2017 UBCM Member Visits  

Each spring, UBCM staff travel the province to meet with colleagues in approximately a quarter of the local governments in British Columbia. The meetings provide an opportunity for local governments to highlight matters of local interest and for UBCM staff to provide an update on our current priorities. Read more 
Seismic Safety Council Seeks Representative   

UBCM is seeking a local government staff representative, who possesses a high level of knowledge related to seismic safety and emergency preparedness, to join the British Columbia Seismic Safety Council (SSC). Read more 
Initiative to Prevent Distracted Driving   

Distracted driving has become the primary cause of motor vehicle accidents and fatalities in British Columbia. The BC Coalition to End Distracted Driving has launched Distracted Driving Kills, encouraging British Columbians to act responsibly when driving by putting their phones away, keeping their hands on the steering wheel, and being "present" while driving. 2017 Walk for Reconciliation    

Reconciliation Canada and the City of Vancouver are hosting a Walk for Reconciliation on Sunday September 24, 2017 to celebrate a shared commitment to transforming and renewing relationships between Indigenous peoples and all Canadians. This event is being held in Vancouver the day before the UBCM Convention starts, presenting a unique opportunity for interested local government representatives to participate. Read more
