YOUR TOLL DOLLARS AT WORK

Progress continues on CFX's SR 408 widening project from Good Homes Road to Hiawassee Road.  This project includes adding one lane in each direction of the mainline, as well as adding another lane on the SR 408 westbound exit ramp to Good Homes Road. W ork crews are currently installing two sound walls along eastbound SR 408, east of Dorscher Road. They are also grading the roadway along the median of SR 408 to accommodate the widening work.

4.5 MILE SECTION OF WEKIVA PARKWAY TO OPEN THIS SUMMER

The first CFX section of the Wekiva Parkway is just months away from opening up to drivers. This 4.5 mile stretch will connect the  SR 429 at the Connector Road to Kelly Park Road. It's going to make the drive easier and faster for many living and working near Zellwood, Apopka and Mt. Dora.

The Wekiva Parkway, CFX's first all-electronic expressway, will provide drivers the freedom of non-stop travel because the Parkway offers a cashless payment option called " Pay-by-Plate" in addition to  E-PASS. What this means is for those drivers who don't have an E-PASS or an accepted electronic transponder, a camera will capture an image of the license-plate number. The registered owner of the vehicle will receive a Pay-by-Plate invoice for the $1.39 toll while  E-PASS customers pay 80 cents. With E-PASS you pay less, it is easy to get at  GetEPASS.com, the E-PASS sticker is free and customers are eligible for toll discounts. *

It won't be long before motorists will be able to take SR 429 all the way to SR 46. CFX is on track to finish its remaining sections of the Parkway in the spring of 2018. For more information and updates visit WekivaParkway.com

RELOAD LANE TO OPEN IN MAY AT FOREST LAKE MAIN PLAZA

To bring even more convenience to customers, CFX will open a third Reload Lane location on both north- and south-bound lanes of SR 429 at the Forest Lake main toll plaza in May.

Reload is CFX's drive-up service where motorists can get an E-PASS Sticker or E-PASS Portable and add funds to (Reload) their E-PASS account using cash or credit/debit card. This service is the first of its kind in the continental U.S. and is proving increasingly popular with E-PASS customers.

Two other Reload Lanes are currently located on the east- and west-bound lanes of SR 408 at the Conway toll plaza and on the north- and south-bound lanes of SR 417 at the John Young Parkway toll plaza. The service is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information and to watch a video about Reload, click here.

Lyman High School Tour of Wekiva Parkway

More than 50 students, parents and teachers from the Lyman High School magnet engineering program recently toured the CFX  Wekiva Parkway  sections. The March 30 tour was part of the Parkway Youth Outreach and Education Program. One of the program goals is to introduce the students to possible future careers in transportation. As part of the tour, students experienced a hands-on demo of surveying techniques. They also learned about earthwork, bridgework and other operations and equipment needed for the project. This is the second year that CFX has collaborated with the Lyman engineering program.

UCF Athletics 10th Annual Wellness Fair

On April 5, we spent the day sharing information about E-PASS and of course, the  KnightPass  with UCF staff members.  You can upgrade your current E-PASS at  CollegeEPASS.com  or by calling (407) 823-7277. For more KnightPass updates, follow us on Instagram @MyKnightPass.

IOA Corporate 5K

On April 13, 40 CFX employees participated in the Insurance Office of America Corporate 5K. The event had a great turnout of over 18,000 runners.  Over $40,000 was raised. The proceeds will be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.

LOOKING AHEAD

This summer, CFX is scheduled to begin work to widen SR 408  between SR 417 and Alafaya Trail.  This project will add a travel lane to SR 408 in each direction and widen the westbound SR 408 ramp to northbound SR 417 to three lanes. The project also includes an additional lane at the Dean Road Main Plaza and the installation of sound walls along SR 408. For the project fact sheet, click here.

CFX Employee Spotlight

Darleen Mazillo is one of CFX's most dedicated employees. After more than three decades, she is preparing to retire this summer.

How long have you been a CFX employee?

I have worked at the Expressway Authority for 31 years.  I began as the receptionist and was promoted after a few years.  As executive assistant, my primary duties are to assist the executive director and board members and manage the monthly board meetings.  I enjoy the interaction with CFX staff and the public.

What is the biggest change you have seen in your time working here?

The biggest change since I began is how the agency has grown.  When I began there were only 3 employees - now there are over 60.  In addition, the Board has gone from five members to nine members.  When I began 31 years ago, the agency's goal was to build a beltway around Orlando.  It will soon come to fruition with the completion of the Wekiva Parkway.

What do you think sets CFX apart from other roadbuilding agencies?

CFX is an agency that puts its customers first and always has its customers' best interest in mind.

Do you have any big plans for your retirement?

One of my husband's and my favorite things to do is travel and we hope to do more of it when I retire!

We wish Darleen the best of luck and a happy retirement. Thank you for your devotion to CFX!
