Stallions in the Spotlight

On April 19th, the SFD Battle of the Books team went up against 14 area high schools at Gahanna Lincoln. The teams answered questions about the 34 books that were read. The SFD team started as the 2nd seed and made it into the 4th round before losing to the team from Lancaster.

Congratulations to junior Dominic Polemeni-McGovern for being honored as an All Star for his performance at the 40th Annual Ohio State University Jazz Festival on March 26, 2017. Dominic was recognized specifically for his piano solo on "Blue Bossa" with the Columbus Youth Jazz Workshop. The ensemble is affiliated with the Jazz Arts Group of Columbus; he has been studying and performing with them since September.



Students attended the General Petraeus session last Wednesday.  During the event, senior Justin Mascarin asked the General to elaborate on the sectarian conflict in the Middle East.


Congratulations to Matthew Gabriel for being selected for the Guardian Angel scholarship. This scholarship was established by past parent Linda Saunders to recognize students who have shown continual growth to their academic, spiritual, and social development. 

Madison Salyer, Miranda Draminski and Mr. Sheumaker stopped for a quick picture in front of the Ohio Statehouse after the Junior State of America convention this past weekend.

Freshman Cris Tapia, and eighth graders Noah Garrick, Sam Secrest, and Tony Swartz 
represented SFD well at the Engineering Club Egg Drop competition at Central Ohio Technical College last Friday. The group attended with Engineering Club advisors Mrs. Yerkey and Mrs. Gattis. A special thanks to Mr. 
Brimmer who was also a great help during the preparation time leading up to the event.

Students who plan to use Columbus City Schools Transportation Services next year and are NOT CURRENTLY riding a Columbus City School bus this year must fill out the Application for Pupil Transportation by following the link below.

Art Day Trip to Cleveland

The Visual Arts department is offering an educational art trip to Cleveland on May 19th (Spirit Day). We will tour two museums: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and The Cleveland Museum of Art.
Travel will be on a comfortable chartered coach and there will be time for lunch and some sightseeing in the cool neighborhood of Little Italy in Cleveland. 

Date: May 19 from 8:30am - 7:30pm
Cost: $60 per student due with registration form

Mother-Daughter Yoga Class

All those interested in joining us for a Mother-Daughter Yoga class on Tuesday, May 16 from 3:30pm to 4:30pm, can sign up to attend this class for a $15 per person fee. Proceeds collected support the SFD Yoga Club. RSVP to Karen Scott at scott@desales.co. Payments can be made that afternoon.

Alumnus Tyler Moon (and brother of current SFD student Kyle) has been battling Crohn's disease since age 9. Lennon Loop

The Lennon Loop is a special 5K/10K race held each year in honor of our beloved teacher, coach, and friend, Mr. Bob Lennon, who was killed in a tragic accident September 15, 2013.  This race is a special way for us to come together as a community to celebrate Mr. Lennon's love of running.  Proceeds from this race help to fund a scholarship in his name.
