MMA Joins Effort Opposing Medicaid Work Requirements
The MMA signed on to a letter sent to legislative leaders this week regarding a bill directing the Minnesota Department of Human Services to apply for a federal waiver establishing work requirements as a condition of receiving health coverage for Medical Assistance, the state's Medicaid program. Mental Health Parity Working Group Considered
On March 20, the House Health and Human Services Reform Committee passed a bill that would establish a working group to look at mental health parity in Minnesota. Read more here.

New AMA Study Confirms Prior Auth Bad for Patients
More than nine in 10 physicians say that prior authorization (PA) programs have a negative impact on patient clinical outcomes, according to a new physician survey released March 18 by the AMA. Reforming PA in Minnesota has been a long term legislative priority for the MMA. Read more here.

 Match Day Filled with Smiles
The MMA and the Twin Cities Medical Society took part in the University of Minnesota Medical School's Match Day celebration at McNamara Alumni Center on March 16. At right, happy graduates include: Gretchen Colbenson (left), Alex Feng, Erica Sanders and Risa Visina. For more information on the event, click here. Mayo Medical School also held a Match Day event. Of its 51 students, 29 percent matched at Mayo Clinic.

New Opioids Lecture to Focus on Orthopaedic Surgery

Book Club to Explore Poverty and Health Disparities in Minnesota
The MMA and the Minnesota chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics are forming a book club to explore health equity/poverty issues. The first book is "A Good Time for the Truth: Race in Minnesota" by Sun Yung Shin.
