Bronte BIA Says Goodbye and
Thank You Mary
Mary Roberts, formerly of Estilo, then Jupe, Bronte Rd. and former Bronte BIA Chair of the Board has left the Bronte BIA Board. When Jupe closed its Bronte Rd. store, Mary decided that she must step down as she was going to be working in Jupe-Waterdown.
However, Mary still calls Bronte her home.
Mary has given almost six
years of volunteer service to the Bronte BIA serving as Board Member, Vice-Chair and moving to the Chair position in 2012.
Her passion for Bronte was always evident. Her commitment to the Board from start to finish was there in every thing she did. She held a steady hand on the wheel through some challenging and changing times for the Bronte BIA. We sincerely regret losing Mary Roberts as a BIA board member, and in particular in her role as a tireless leader in the Chair position.
From all of us at the Bronte BIA, we thank you sincerely Mary for all you've done to volunteer in this important role for the BIA and its members. You are greatly missed!

Sam Rawdah - Sammy's Old Fashioned Chip Wagon Resigns from Bronte BIA Board
The Board of the Bronte BIA wishes to thank Sam Rawdah for his years of service to the Bronte BIA.
'Sammy' joined the BIA Board several years ago and has given his volunteer time toward the betterment of the Bronte community. Sammy is a long-time Bronte Booster who gives his time to many organizations such as the Kinsmen. Most recently he hosted the Terry Fox Bronte Challenge, an annual event whereby all the proceeds from his day's sales goes to the Terry Fox Run.
We also offer Sammy our deepest condolences on the very recent passing of his father. Once closed for the season, Sammy will be going to spend some time with family in Lebanon.
Thank you Sammy for your Board service and accept our sympathies on behalf of the Board and our BIA member community.

Sovereign House Art Show
This historic home/interpretive museum with lush gardens located on the picturesque Bronte Bluffs above the beach, is a must-see on any visit to Bronte. Visitors can enjoy a self-guided tour of the restored rooms with artifacts, photographs, archival documents and memorabilia.
Sovereign House is open to the public Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday between 1pm and 4pm, from June through September. .

The Lake Walk Series 2016 A Big Hit
Our 2016 The Lake Walk series sponsored by Catch Hospitality, Trias Gallery and the Bronte BIA ended up on a high note with artists, performers, residents and visitors all enjoying summer evenings of culture - food, live music and dance.
We wish to thank all of those businesses that participated and a special thanks goes to Indira at Trias Gallery for her liaison with all the artists and musicians who helped make these events special. A list of participants for each evening can be viewed on

Oakville residents were invited to showcase their artistic talents as part of the town's Summer Cultural Connection events series. Participants chose a picturesque scene of Bronte Harbour and created their own masterpiece for a chance to win great prizes. Paint supplies and canvases were provided.
Each painting was shared on the
Bronte Village Facebook page where people were invited to like their favourite. Prizes were awarded in four categories: Kids (10 and under), Youth (11-17), Adult (18+) and Professional.

Oakville's Musical Moments
In partnership with
Merriam Music, and Oakville's three BIA's, Oakville's Musical Moments was a huge success from August 15 to 31 where six pianos were placed at various locations in Oakville. Bronte Village's piano was located on the Bronte Rd. Boardwalk and provided many hours of enjoyment for residents and visitors.
Piano players of all ages and abilities were encouraged to share a video of their musical performance on
Merriam Music's Facebook page, using #OakvilleMakesMusic for a chance to win great prizes.
Thank you to the Town of Oakville, Merriam Music and to everyone who participated in painting the pianos at the Oakville Children's Festival and the camp groups at Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre.
We hope that you got a chance to express your musical abilities at one of the locations.

his Canada-wide event invites everyone to explore, discover and participate in arts and culture in every community across the country, It will feature free, weekend event of arts and culture in Bronte Village at participating businesses, at Sovereign House and at Queen Elizabeth Park Cultural Centre featuring hands-on, interactive activities that invite the public to participate "behind the scenes"-and to discover the world of artists, creators, historians, architects, curators, and designers at work in their community.

Bronte Village Tree Lighting

Bundle up, bring your camera, and come down to Centriller Square on Lakeshore Rd. (opposite Sobey's at Centriller Square Plaza). Experience the mirth and merriment of an old-fashioned Bronte Christmas during the Bronte Business Improvement Area's Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, November 26, from 4-6:30. Take time to shop some great early sales and warm up indoors at one of Bronte's excellent eateries with mulled cider, festive treats or whatever your heart desires. Listen to favourite Christmas carols, dance with Santa, and light up our tree.

Bronte Fishermen's Memorial (Heritage Waterfront Park Bronte) More and more people are discovering the history of Bronte Village's history as a fishing village. Listen to local resident Ken Pollock tell tales of the Lake at the memorial. Bronte BIA and our community thanks Ken sincerely for his volunteer work educating residents and visitors alike about Bronte's history as a commercial fishing village.

Cycle Bronte Harbour any day for a great ride along the Waterfront Trail. Lots of bike racks are available in our business core and in Heritage Park. Make a ride into Bronte part of your leisure activities. Use our Bronte BIA bike corral on Bronte Rd. in front of Taste of Colombia. Ten or more bicycles fit in the space of one car!
