PATH Intl. Exhibits at Special Educators' Convention
Convention attendees enjoy
learning about PATH Intl.
As part of an ongoing outreach campaign to special education teachers, PATH Intl. exhibited at the Council for Exceptional Children Convention and Expo, a gathering of more than 6,000 special educators and hundreds of exhibitors in Boston, April 19-22. Among the attendees there was a definite buzz about the lives being changed and enriched by therapeutic horsemanship, and as a first-time exhibitor, PATH Intl. was very warmly received. Many teachers relayed their familiarity with EAAT due to students being participants or visible centers in their communities. Yet others spoke of a relationship their school district has with a center. The most frequent conversation was around locating a center in their home area and learning how to connect administrators and families with PATH Intl. Member Centers and Certified Professionals. Still others had not heard of EAAT nor PATH Intl. There were even a handful of PATH Intl. members and instructors among the attendees.

It is important that these knowledgeable educators understand the significance of PATH Intl. credentials as they might suggest EAAT as an option for students. To that end, a fact sheet for special educators was produced and 750 were given out, so at least that many conversations were held! Additionally hundreds of article reprints from PATH Intl. Strides magazine were distributed and approximately 100 individuals opted in to receive the PATH Intl. eNews. While disseminating information, it was also a good opportunity for gathering input from attendees as the next phase of the campaign includes creating tools for centers to employ for outreach to their schools/districts.
Accrediting the PATH Intl. Registered Therapeutic Riding Instructor Certification
Feel as if your inbox is missing something, just can't put your finger on it? Well, some may have noticed they haven't recently received a  Trek to Accrediting the PATH Intl. Registered Therapeutic Riding Instructor eNews . The association has committed to keeping members up to date on all the milestones throughout the process. At the same time when there's nothing of vital interest to communicate, we won't flood your inbox. As of now, the credentialing council development workgroup is still full steam ahead in its discovery and work phase. As the results of its efforts become available, they will be communicated to the membership.

In the meantime, PATH Intl. Regional Conference attendees will have the opportunity to watch a presentation on how to create a fair, unbiased assessment that is appropriate to the type of knowledge and skills being assessed, including definitions of testing types. For those unable to attend, the presentation will also be available as a recorded webinar soon and will be announced in a future  eNews .

Equine Tips From the PATH Intl. Equine Welfare Committee
Free Range Stabling for Your Horses
By Trish Broersma, PATH Intl. Equine Welfare Committee Member
Years ago when I directed a therapeutic riding program, we stabled our horses in a familiar setting. Our eight program horses had roomy stalls in a beautiful facility with a moderate-sized run attached to each stall. They each were turned out for 2 hours a day in small pastures, either individually with other horses over the fence, or in small, compatible groups.

Community Connections banner This month's featured Community Connections post is addressed to the PATH International Equine Services for Heroes Community where a member asks:

I have not been able to find many good free or inexpensive resources for specific activities for veterans programs. Has anyone else found any?

Online Education Opportunities for CEUs
PATH Intl. is launching four new online courses this spring in addition to the excellent line-up of available courses. Don't miss conference session recordings such as "Addressing PTSD in Military Veterans Using Equine-Facilitated Psychotherapy" or webinars such as "Cerebral Palsy: The Basics." Expand your knowledge and skills base with courses such as "The PATH Intl. Autism Spectrum Disorder and EAAT" online course. Click here for the full list of online courses, conference session recordings and webinars.
I love the online courses! They are a great way to continue your education, develop your career and meet professionals from the EAAT industry all from the comfort of your own home. It is a great, affordable way to learn and make contacts in the industry.
