Wisdom

A Note From Pastor Linda

"Let the little children come... for the kingdom belongs to them!" ~Matthew 19, Mark 10, Luke 18

Dear Children of God~
Did you know that this week is Children's Book Week, May 1-7? I find it interesting how some of life's greatest lessons can be found in children's books- and many of these timeless lessons are based on Scripture. I loved reading to my children- and now my granddaughter, Evie. Her recent favorite is "Elmo at the Farm"- a classic to be sure. She points to the cow and says, "MOOOOOO." She points to her favorite Sesame Street character Elmo and says with a smile, "mElmo."
Consider these quotes from timeless tales:
  • Piglet: How do you spell love? Pooh: You don't spell it. You feel it. ~Winnie the Pooh, A.A. Milne
  • A person's a person, no matter how small. ~Dr. Seuss, Horton Hears a Who
  • No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. ~Aesop, The Lion and the Mouse
  • How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard... ~Winnie the Pooh, A.A. Milne
  • It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye. ~The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupery
  • There's no place like home. ~Dorothy, The Wizard of Oz, L. Frank Braum
  • The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease for ever being able to do it. ~Peter Pan, J.M. Barrie
  • Listen to the mustn'ts child. Listen to the don'ts. Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles, the won'ts. Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me... Anything can happen child, anything can be. ~Shel Silverstein
  • Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not. ~The Lorax, Dr. Seuss
  • "You have plenty of courage, I am sure," answered Oz. "All you need is confidence in yourself. There is no living thing that is not afraid when it faces danger. The true courage is in facing danger when you are afraid, and that kind of courage you have plenty."  ~The Wizard of Oz, Frank Baum
  • It's no use to go back to yesterday because I was a different person then. ~Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll
  • Promise me you'll remember, you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think... ~Winnie the Pooh, A.A. Milne
Looking forward to sharing some of these timeless tales with Evie! Do you have a favorite children's book? Pull it out and learn the timeless truth.

Grace and Peace
