Kindergarten Round-Up
The Rock Island - Milan School District #41 will be holding Kindergarten Round-Up for the 2017-2018 school year on Wednesday, May 3, 2017. Children must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2017 in order to attend Kindergarten. Spring Gardening With Craig Hignight
The Rock Island Public Library will offer a free program, Spring Gardening with Craig Hignight on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Main Library Community Room, 401 19th Street. Kick off your Spring season with one of the Quad Cities' foremost gardening experts and get answers to your questions and learn from Craig's knowledge. What do forty downtown Rock Island businesses and organizations have in common? They want you to know #whatsupdowntownri ! They are opening their doors to welcome residents to explore and learn all about the exciting things going on in your downtown area. From special sales, to door prizes, to refreshments and more, there are plenty of reasons to pack the downtown sidewalks on Saturday, May 6, 2017 from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Gallery Hop!
The District and MidCoast Fine Arts present Gallery Hop! Friday, May 5, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm - an open house in downtown Rock Island. Gallery Hop! showcases local artists in over 20 locations that include galleries, restaurants, shops and hot spots in downtown Rock Island.  It's fun, casual, and it's where you can find unforgettable items for yourself, that someone special, and don't forget mom. Jewelry, photography, woodwork, glass, paintings, book signings, sculpture and performance art will all be featured. Talk with the artists, indulge your senses, shop and watch live demonstrations.
Spring Plant Sale
On Sunday, May 7, 2017 The Rock Island's Parks and Recreation Department will hold a plant sale at Longview Park at the corner of 18th Avenue and 17th Street. Shop for bulbs, ornamental grasses, perennials, annuals and more to benefit the City's beautification projects. The sale will take place from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm and for more information please call (309) 732-7275.
