2016 Annual Report
In 2016 BEDC refocused on meeting the objectives set out in Burlington's Economic Vision and the City of Burlington Strategic Plan. BEDC delivered strong results, such as the development of an innovation and entrepreneurship strategy that has led to the launch of a new innovation centre, opening June 2017. BEDC also focused on building Burlington's a strong international brand through hosting multiple delegations with over 500 attendees, and supported the development of a new Official Plan that meets the employment needs of the future. Innovation Centre Coming Soon
Renovations at the new innovation centre are almost complete, and we're on track for a June grand opening (invitation to follow!). Mayor Rick Goldring first announced this exciting initiative at his State of the City address on January 25, and we've been hard at work getting everything ready to go. Located at 5500 North Service Road, the 8,600 square foot space will be dedicated to supporting new and growing technology companies. We can't wait to unveil the centre's name and logo very soon, so be sure to stay tuned for this announcement!
