Jason Fischer
New Camp Director

We are excited to announce that Jason Fischer has been hired to be the new onsite Camp Director. Bob Bangtson retired in January, after 4 years as the Site Director and Jason will be taking over his responsibilities and some new ones as well. He and his family will be here Memorial Day weekend.

Jason has served for many years in Christian Camping. He has been the Guest Services Manager at Covenant Harbor in Lake Geneva WI for the past 12 years. Jason's wife Angel grew up at Byron Bible Camp in SD as her father was the Executive Director there. Together they have many years of valuable experience in Christian Camping. Their 2 children are Oliver (6) and Hazel (2).

Jason will be taking on the daily operational pieces of the camp, which will allow Brian to be more engaged in the long term planning and development aspects of camp.

Recently our year-round staff completed a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis. This helped us prepare for Jason coming and assisted to move us into the next chapter for Lake Beauty Ministries. We have seen a lot of changes to the camp over the past 10 years and are excited to move into this next chapter and see how God will continue to lead us to serve the church better.
 Above and Beyond

We began this new idea last Fall. The idea came from some Family Campers at Labor Day Family Camp. The idea is to have 20 families join in partnership with Lake Beauty Ministries financially at a $50.00 per month donation level. The regular funding would go directly to programmatic activities updates and improvements. It will equal $12,000.00 plus annually. We have families that are doing the $50.00 level, we have a few doing $100.00 we even have one family who is doing $450.00 a month because they are so thankful to Lake Beauty Ministries. We are grateful to those who have already signed on, and are going above and beyond. We are really excited to hit 20 or more families to sign on. Part of it is the additional resources to improve what we have to offer at camp, but it's also about having a connection/relationship with people who are passionate about Lake Beauty.

We just added Archery Tag to our programmed activities. It is a direct result of the people who have stepped up to Above and Beyond that we were able to pay cash for it.

You can sign up for Above and Beyond on the web site - and read more about it...

Looking for  Some Horses

LBBC is on the lookout for 4 horses. With the number of people who read the newsletter we wanted to get that need out to as many as possible. You may know someone who has horses that are ready to sell. So maybe they would sell or donate them to camp. We are looking for horse trail horses. We are hoping that they would be well broke and good with children. If you have any leads for us, please contact the camp office and let us know 320-732-3218, or you can call Brian Alnes directly 320-219-3199

"The times - they are a changin"...

At Lake Beauty - we know that change is inevitable - so we have decided that we might as well embrace it! And - not just change - to change something. Because we have heard from so many of you, we thought we should actually listen. So - the big announcement for today is that 2 of our very important Lake Beauty Bible Camp Retreats are switching dates!!!

We are moving our Trailblazer Retreat (1st-6th graders) to the month of October (October 13-14). And - the (formerly) FORGE Retreat is shifting to February (February 2-4). Also - we now be referring to the FORGE Retreat as the Winter Junior/Senior High Retreat with a new and different theme every year!

Yes - change is hard. But, we are excited to bring this change as a benefit to the scheduling of the ministry year for both Children's and Youth Ministries, and to bring a 'shot in the arm' to these retreats!!!

Senior Day is set for Tuesday, September 12th! The day will include a tour of camp and a delicious sit down luncheon and dessert. Enjoy a day of reconnecting with friends, singing along with great music, and we'll hear about the exciting new things that are happening at Lake Beauty!

Our Women's Retreat is happening on the weekend of September 22-24, and will be lead by Terry Friedlein. God is preparing this time for deep connections, and for the blessing of retreat! We can also anticipate the fun Lake Beauty activities, and the workshops.

As mentioned above - the Trailblazer Fall Retreat will enjoy a new fall flavor - the dates are set for October 13-14. So pumped for the time we will build some jammin friendships, and be challenged in our faith!

The Annual Lutefisk (& Meatball) Dinner on December 2nd. All proceeds will be going to our camper scholarships, so that we can bless campers with the opportunity to take one step closer to Jesus Christ! Enjoy a fun-filled meal of Lukefisk, Swedish Meatballs, Boiled Potatoes and all the fixin's...

December 30-January 1 > All Young Adults are invited to come for a couple days of connection, both with friends and with our Lord Jesus Christ. It will be the perfect blend of jammin' winter activities, along with generous amounts of chill time!

Thanks be to God that He continues to bless us with Summer Staff and volunteers. And - the exciting news is that we still have opportunities for those of you who are a certified health practitioner (either a RN, LPN, EMT, or First Responder) to serve God in His Ministry here at Lake Beauty. The camp still available are; Trailblazer #2 (June 25-29), Frontier Kids (July 4-8) and Junior High #2 (July 9-14) Please don't hesitate to call or email Matt with all of your questions about serving God this summer!!!

Camper for staff housing

Two years ago we had a gift of a camper given to camp. That camper last summer had volunteers and staff living in it every day, April through October.

We are in a very interesting position this summer. We are looking at having a full staff and actually an additional few with our new Day Camp program (where we are taking camp to churches). With that, we have a need for additional housing for 4-5 female staff. We are looking around to see if there might be a camper out there taking up space, that doesn't have a lot of use planned for it this summer. We would be happy to come and get it, store it here all summer, even long term storage is available at no cost. Give us a call if you have one or know of someone who does. 320-732-3218

A Word From Covenant Trust

Talking about money can be difficult for some families but it's important to periodically discuss your family's financial situation with one another.

Both you and your spouse should be fully informed of your financial situation. Regularly discuss spending habits, budgets, financial accounts, and debts. Plan for emergencies. Establish financial goals and develop plans to achieve them. Make sure each of you knows how to access your financial accounts (e.g., know your website usernames and passwords) and can locate estate planning documents.

Review this information monthly: set up a regular time and date with each other to look over all this information, discuss anything that changed since the last meeting (or anything that needs to change moving forward), and adjust your plans and budget as needed. Also, conduct a "financial fire drill" to ensure each of you can easily and quickly manage your finances on your own in case the need arises.

If you have children, decide what to share (and how to share) with them. Discussing finances with them can help set a strong foundation for financial responsibility. And while they don't need to know how much debt the family might be in or how much money is socked away in savings, giving them a general financial overview and sharing plans and goals can help them process and understand the financial decisions that affect them.
As you and your family talk about your finances, you may discover that you have more questions than answers, or that you need some guidance on your retirement planning, withdrawal strategies, or other aspects of your financial plan. If so, Covenant Trust Company has financial services that can help you and your family, such as trustee and estate planning services, IRAs, investment management accounts, and several charitable giving options.

But first and foremost, we understand the value of a conversation: how important it is to be heard, how helpful it can be for someone to simply listen to you. So, we 'd like to hear from you. Contact any one of our team serving the Northwest Conference:
