TEX-ABOTA, the statewide organization representing all Texas Chapters of the American Board of Trial Advocates, will present the Honorable Judge Ken Molberg with the TEX-ABOTA Jurist of the Year Award on June 17th in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Judge Molberg presides over the 95th Civil District Court in Dallas County, and he is a former DCDP Party Chair and was the longest serving member of the State Democratic Executive Committee in Texas Democratic Party history until leaving that office recently.

Duncan, currently with the Texas Tech University System and formerly a Representative and Senator. ABOTA is a national organization made up of experienced trial lawyers from both sides of the bar who are dedicated to improving the legal profession and protecting the right to trial by jury. Congratulations Judge Molberg and thank you for your decades of service to justice, to Dallas County, and to the Democratic Party.

The Future Is Female:

Women In Politics

The Future Is Female, and this month we're centering it around "Women In Politics." We're hosting a panel of former and current elected officials, former candidates, and political operatives (so far):

Carmen Ayala, DCDP Executive Director
Rhetta Bowers, '16 Candidate for HD 113
Judge Darlene Ewing
Terry Meza, '16 Candidate for HD 105
Judge Nancy Mulder
Judge Tonya Parker
Judge Gena Slaughter
Kathleen Thompson, SDEC & Communications
Sheriff Lupe Valdez
Judge Tina Yoo Clinton

Between these amazing women, you will not only hear about the unique struggles they face as women in politics but also about their triumphs. The work they're doing to blaze the trail for young women and future generations is critical, especially in our current political climate. We want all of you to learn from them, so that you can join us in the front lines in fighting for equal pay for equal work, autonomy over our bodies, parental leave, and so many other issues that directly affect women.

This event will be held May 13 from 9 am - 12 pm at the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Hall in Garland.

Individual Tickets  $10.00. Get your tickets here:

DCDP Executive Committee Meets

On Monday night the Dallas County Democratic Party Executive Committee held their quarterly meeting. Elected officials present included Judges Carter Thompson, Carl Ginsberg, and Tina Yoo Clinton, Sheriff Lupe Valdez, and County Commissioner Dr. Theresa Daniel. Several candidates for local council and other races were introduced, and some in next year's Democratic Primary, including two candidates for District Attorney, and others expecting to challenge Republicans Congressman Pete Sessions and State Senator Don Huffines (we'll be hearing more from all of them in months to come).

After hearing financial and other reports, the committee voted to fill 36 Precinct Chair vacancies. That included four contested spots. In two of those only one candidate was present, and both won. One more contest was tabled until the next meeting, as neither candidate showed up. Moral: attendance matters. The new Precinct Chairs should be listed shortly on the party website.
