Yolandé Anderson was appointed the MIC3 State Commissioner Designee by South Carolina Superintendent Molly Spearman on September 15, 2016. Commissioner Anderson is the Director of Family and Community Engagement for the South Carolina Department of Education.

Proctor, MN – Proctor Public Schools took time to recognize the Month of the Military Child in Minnesota. They also had some help from State Assistant Commissioner of Education, Daron Korte.
Steilacoom, WA – The Steilacoom School District, adjacent to Joint Base Lewis McChord, highlights their Safe and Sound Program. The district was awarded a five-year, $1.25M grant which is focused on increasing the social well-being of all students.

The Association of Defense Communities (ADC) recognize eight communities for exceptional support to service members, military families.
The association launched the Great American Defense Communities initiative in conjunction with the House and Senate Defense Communities Caucuses in 2016 to showcase the efforts communities take to support installations and their personnel.
1) exit or end-of-course exams required for graduation from the sending state; or
2) national norm-referenced achievement tests or
3) alternative testing, in lieu of testing requirements for graduation in the receiving state. In the event the above alternatives cannot be accommodated by the receiving state for a student transferring in his or her senior year, then the provisions of Article VII, Section C shall apply.
