Dallas County Democratic Party
Weekly Roundup
Democratic news from Dallas County
 and beyond.
Tuesday May 9 2017
This Saturday May 13:
The Future Is Female:

Women In Politics

The Future Is Female, and this month we're centering it around "Women In Politics." We're hosting a panel of former and current elected officials, former candidates, and political operatives (so far):

Carmen Ayala, DCDP Executive Director
Rhetta Bowers, '16 Candidate for HD 113
Judge Darlene Ewing
Terry Meza, '16 Candidate for HD 105
Judge Nancy Mulder
Judge Tonya Parker
Judge Gena Slaughter
Kathleen Thompson, SDEC & Communications
Sheriff Lupe Valdez
Judge Tina Yoo Clinton

Between these amazing women, you will not only hear about the unique struggles they face as women in politics but also about their triumphs. The work they're doing to blaze the trail for young women and future generations is critical, especially in our current political climate. We want all of you to learn from them, so that you can join us in the front lines in fighting for equal pay for equal work, autonomy over our bodies, parental leave, and so many other issues that directly affect women.

This event will be held May 13 from 9 am - 12 pm at the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Hall in Garland.

Individual Tickets  $10.00. Get your tickets here:

Judge Darlene Ewing Takes Her Bench

After an unexpectedly long recovery from illness that prevented her from taking the bench in January, newly elected Judge Darlene Ewing began presiding over the 254th Family District Court last week. Darlene expressed her deepest gratitude to those who have been supportive during her recovery. "I am so excited to finally join my colleagues at the courthouse and get to work doing what the citizens of Dallas County elected me to do," Ewing declares. "To serve as a judge is a calling. I will be fair and hardworking. I will put families first and make sure we take care of children who are going through what can be a difficult time."

Darlene Ewing served as Dallas County Democratic Party Chair during the Party's initial sweep of Dallas County in 2006, and led local Democrats for 10 more years before running successful Primary and General Election campaigns for herself in 2016. We are glad to have her back and better than ever to serve the citizens of Dallas County.

Judge Ewing will be on the 2018 ballot and will have a kickoff reception on Wednesday, June 14, 6:00 - 8:00 pm, at Times Ten Cellars Annex, 6324 Prospect Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75214.
