St. Michael's Academy
:
It was nice to welcome all the students back. Everyone seemed rested and ready to jump back into school.
Next week will be a busy one here at St. Michael's. We will start the week on Monday with the crowning of the Blessed Mother at 2 p.m. over at Holy Cross Church. Then on Tuesday, we will participate in Valley Gives. This is an online fundraising event for nonprofits that will help us to raise funding in order
to continue our Catholic school mission and assure that our school will be here for years to come. The event will also allow us to compete for prizes based on the number of donors we have and the amount of money we raise. We encourage you to help us by making a small donation and spreading the word!
Wednesday will feature our eighth grade science fair from 6-7 p.m. in the gym and we will wrap up the week on Friday with the School Spirit Day volleyball game. The game features the 8th grade students against the faculty. Last year, for the first time in years, the faculty lost to the 8th grade so the faculty is looking to regain their championship title!
I hope to see you and your family at one of the events next week. In the meantime, enjoy a nice weekend.
Peace,
Ann E. Dougal
Principal

PreK-3 is Planting!
Spring has sprung and new life has begun! The PreK-3 students have planted their very own "friends!" These are not your ordinary, everyday friends. They are very special friends. They will have green grass for hair and will eventually require haircuts (under adult supervision, of course!).
The students are learning Raffi's Everything Grows song as well as Everything's Growing from our SEEDS religion program. They are also enjoying and then it's spring by Julie Fogliano which chronicles planting and caring for seeds with beautiful illustrations by Erin E. Stead.
The PreK-3 students now know that seeds need three things to grow...soil, water and sunlight. The students also have learned that stems grow up and roots grow down.
So, if you happen to find yourself upstairs in the PreK hallway, please stop in to meet our newest "friends!"

Dental Health Is Important
We send out a great big
THANK YOU to Mrs. Kathy Malmborg and the staff of Flagship Dental for being a part of our School Health Fair this week and coming in to visit all the PreK, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade classrooms. Students learned some important tips about good dental health and every student received a goodie bag filled with a toothbrush, toothpaste, timer, stickers, dental floss and crayons with coloring pages. Wow! This was part of our school-wide health fair!

Grade 4 Pens Some Poems!
Working with Ms. Wuller in their language arts class, our fourth grade students have been studying prepositional phrases. As we all know," practice makes perfect!" Therefore, once introduced, those prepositional phrases needed to be practiced. Nothing could be better than to practice those phrases by using each student's imagination and knowledge base to create prepositional phrase poems!
Look for samples of the fourth grade poems on our webpage under Student Writing Gallery which can be found under Student Life.
