Your daily commute, an overnight delivery, a vacation cruise. So many aspects of life involve moving people and cargo. Now, perhaps more than ever, transportation is the lifeblood of society.
The Road to Today
Back in 1994, VBA leadership had the wisdom to create a section for practitioners involved in all modes of transportation. The goal was simple, yet important: To promote and facilitate cooperation and interchange among clients and lawyers who perform and practice within the various modes.
Since its inception, the
Transportation Law Section has been an integral part of the VBA. Moreover, it has served as a valued resource for a number of other sections and individual lawyers.
Delivering the Goods
At the
Summer Meeting in July, the Section will team with the
Construction and Public Contracts Law Section to host an exciting and timely program on new-age transportation construction initiatives. Top-ranking public officials will join leading practitioners involved in developing and delivering some of the most innovative transportation solutions of our time.
This follows last year's well-received program, co-sponsored with the
Civil Litigation Section, on the rapidly evolving law governing drones.
Drivers of Success
The success of the
Transportation Law Section relies on the important work of its four major committees:
- Highway
- Railroad
- Maritime
- Air & Space
Does your practice touch any of these modes of transportation? If yes, a seat at the table awaits. I invite you to become an active member of the Transportation Law Section. Perhaps you will consider a leadership role as a Council member, a committee chair, or a program coordinator. The Section will benefit greatly from your participation.
If you have any questions about the Transportation Law Section, please
contact me or any
Council member. I join other Section members in looking forward to your valuable input and involvement.
