Announcing a New Partnership with the Child Welfare League of America

The Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) and Robert F. Kennedy Children's Action Corps are pleased to announce the launch of an exciting partnership to enhance each organization's impact in the field of reform efforts to better serve dual status youth.
As a result of this partnership, the following will be developed and provided to the field:

1. Publications that offer evidence-based strategies for child welfare leaders to use in pursuing dual status youth reform that account for the uniquely identified child welfare system concerns and challenges.

2. Workshops and webinars in topic areas of interest to child welfare professionals considering or already engaged in dual status youth reform.

3. Opportunities for on-site training and technical assistance that target the challenges associated with dual status youth reform from the child welfare perspective.

CWLA and RFK Children's Action Corps, through our RFK National Resource Center, are looking forward to this exciting partnership to ensure that child welfare and juvenile justice agencies and the communities they serve have expert support and guidance in the challenging work of reform efforts to better serve dual status youth.

Agency Awarded Funding

For a third year, the Charles H. Hall Foundation, Bank of America, N.A., Trustee is providing a grant of $5,000 to support the Western Massachusetts Transition Program (WMTP), based out of our EWT School.

The majority of WMTP youth reside in Hampden County and live in a variety of settings, including residential treatment, group homes, foster care or kinship care. These families experience poverty and risk factors well above statewide and national averages. WMTP offers a job skill building and placement program designed to build transition opportunities individualized to RFK Children's Action Corps youth needs at all stages of readiness.

The program impacts youth outcomes as well as strengthens professional development and delivery of transition services at all of our programs in Western Massachusetts. Along with providing a hands-on application for student learning in classrooms, transition activities will help students progress in numerous areas in anticipation of post-secondary independence, impacting outcomes in the areas of safety, use of community-based services and preparation for post-secondary education, in addition to building the work readiness skills of youth toward paid employment as young adults.

Thank You!

We are incredibly grateful to the students at Newton Country Day School for their continued support and donations of Spring Baskets to the girls in our programs.

Also, because of the generosity of Lisa and John Plansky, the boys and girls in our care received these wonderful Easter treats.

On behalf of all our staff, families and children, we are thankful for such acts of kindness that help make the holidays special for our kids and let them know that people in their communities care.
Kids Corner

Our Lancaster School hosted its annual Community Reading Day on April 26th.  Thank you to all of our volunteers who read to the classes and shared with our kids the importance of reading in their daily lives.
