Tri Region Community
 Building Luncheon

Featuring Guest presenter:
Doug Griffiths
Author, Speaker, & Founder of 13 Ways

May 9, 2017
  11:15am - 1:45pm

When asked why he does what he does, Doug's answer is simple: to help build better communities. Doug believes communities are the foundation on which we build stronger families, stronger businesses, and stronger nations. Build strong communities, and success will follow.

He helps communities identify what is holding them back from finding success, and then he helps them overcome it. When they aren't looking, Doug inspires, and often shocks them, with a presentation showing how they are destroying their own chance at success. Then he helps build them back up and get them on a better path.

Yes, it sounds like therapy. It is. It is community therapy, which is why he is often called a community therapist. And the great thing is that it works.

After a bumpy 2016, there's evidence to suggest that 2017 will bring an upswing
 By Pete Evans
The price of oil has risen by more than 10 US a barrel in the past month and there is ample reason to think that there could be more gains ahead for many parts of the Canadian economy.
 Jeff McIntosh Canadian Press

After 2016, a year of ups and downs for the Canadian economy, there's a growing body of evidence suggesting 2017 will be a better year.

Here are five big reasons the economy could do a lot better than you might think this year.

  1. The job market is recovering
  2. Oil could be headed higher - finally
  3. The loonie could be headed higher, too
  4. Trade is picking up
  5. The TSX is near an all-time high

Fort McMurray wildfire rebuild gaining momentum as hurdles cleared
"There's no perfect in recovery," city councillor says
By Ian Bickis, The Canadian Press,  Apr 30, 2017

A long-delayed building boom in Fort McMurray is ramping up as homeowners, insurers, contractors and officials in the Alberta city clear hurdles that hindered reconstruction after the devastating wildfire last May.

While many residents and businesses had hoped to break ground last year, challenges ranged from the amount of debris that had to be removed to the volume of permits and insurance claims that needed to be processed.

Efforts to rebuild some of the more than 2,500 dwellings destroyed were also delayed as the risks and costs of winter construction meant many decided to put off the work.

Instant rebates for energy-efficient products
