Donors Unite to Improve
Food Access for Low-Income Families in Monroe County
AllOne Charities, Weiler Abrasives and
Mattioli Foundation Donate $50,000
to  United Way Hunger Initiative

AllOne Charities, the Weiler Corpor ation and the Mattioli Foundation announced a donor collaboration, awarding a $50,000 grant to the United Way of Monroe County to support its recently launched Access to Food initiative.

According to National School Lunch Program data, over half of all school-aged children in Monroe County are receiving free or reduced price lunch. Many families in Monroe County - even those above the poverty level - are struggling to provide regular healthy food for their families.

This initiative brings together partners from across sectors - government, community volunteers, for-profit companies, non-profits organizations, and church groups - including the nearly 50 food pantries and supplemental feeding programs in the county. By bringing everyone together, the goal is to improve access to healthy, nutritious food among low- and moderate-income families in Monroe County through increased efficiency and effectiveness of the entire supplemental food system.
