BCC SINGS WITH CHOIRS FROM AROUND THE WORLD
From April 13 to 18, 74 singers and 8 staff traveled to London to meet countless new friends from around the globe. Choirs from Norway, South Africa, the UK, Latvia, Hong Kong, Israel and Indonesia sang as individual and combined choirs at the Royal Albert Hall and The Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall. All singers joined together in friendship and song with African drumming, dance parties, workshops on choral mashups and memories that will last a lifetime.

Donya, a singer in Premier Choir, writes, " Tour was one of the best weeks I've ever had. Not only did I get closer with BCC, but I also got close with people from all over the world. As much as tour was a social experience, it was equally (if not more) a musical experience- we grew stronger as a choir and were also able to learn methods of choral music in other countries. I miss it already!!

FROM ROYAL ALBERT HALL TO CARNEGIE HALL
The Young People's Chorus of New York City (YPC) has invited BCC to join its annual Vocal Resolutions Summit. BCC will travel to New York City on May 12th and 13th, where the two choruses will learn from each other's experiences through discussions about social issues, led by choristers from both choirs. The summit will culminate in a joint concert in The Judith and Burton Resnick Education Wing during which YPC and BCC will premiere a version of composer Michael Gordon's piece, "To Sing."

BCC AROUND TOWN

The Foley Hoag Foundation invited BCC to sing and talk about our work. Jim Klocke, CEO of the MA Nonprofit Network share remarks about the current noprofit environment and Celeste Wilson, BCC Managing Director, discussed BCC's engagement with singers from over 100 different communities and the importance of bringing these diverse young people together.  Thank you Foley Hoag!

M. Steinert and Sons is moving from its historic building on Boylston Street. M. Steinert and Sons and Vice President Brendan Murphy decided to generously donate all of the proceeds from an auction of items from the building on Saturday, April 22. The Boston Globe covered the auction and the move. BCC singers sang to auction goers, family and friends and received a rousing applause. Thank you to M. Steinert and Sons for their generosity!

A MUSICAL INSPIRATION FOR THE SEAT CAMPAIGN

Celebrate our new central headquarters and the social justice mission of BCC by donating a choir seat in your name or the name of a loved one. Please read about why one singer and his family were inspired to name a chair:

Kobi with BCC Founder Hubie Jones at Fenway Park in 2010.
When Kobi Russell began singing with the Boston Childrens Chorus at the age of seven - back in 2006 - it brought great joy to his grandfather McKinney Russell, who himself had been singing since his days in the youth choir of the Episcopal church in Brooklyn.

Kobi's commitment to BCC and singing mirrors his grandfather's commitment to singing as a child through college, and long after retirement with Boston's own Mystic Chorale and the Yale Alumni Chorus.

Kobi with his father Kyle at the November 2016 Young Men's Ensemble Concert.
Both have traveled with their choruses internationally, and given McKinney Russell's passing last year, Kobi's family is very pleased to dedicate a memorial chair to him and for Kobi's many years of participation in the Boston Children's Chorus.

For a $500 donation, your seat will permanently reflect your generosity like Kobi and his family. Make your donation below and add Seat Campaign and the desired inscription in the Notes Field. Please contact Ben Hires, Director of Programs  at (617) 245-6036 or Sally Dale, Director of Individual Giving at (617) 245-6046 for more information or please visit  website. Please add "seat campaign" in the donation notes and a BCC staff person will follow up with you about your generous gift.
