1. Buy in a popular vacation area. Costa Rica in itself is a much sought out destination for tourism, which already makes it a great choice to invest in a vacation rental residence. However, not every location in the country will ensure a constant flow of renters opting for your property. Popular vacation sites like Jaco and surrounding areas guarantee more demand on vacation residences even during the low season. With that in mind, you can adapt your prices for low and high season to attract as many renters as possible.
2. Find out about services and amenities available in the area.
Not only is the beauty of a place important for visitors. Accessibility to services, such as health services, recreational activities, amenities, shopping and other aspects are equally necessary. Public transportation and closeness to airports are also aspects to consider. Make sure your property is located in a place that caters to visitors needs when it comes to comfortably enjoying their vacation.
3. Decide on your target market. Who are you looking to rent your residence to? Are you looking to attract upscale tourists who will be willing to pay thousands of dollars to stay at a mansion? Or are you looking for a more affordable and manageable property that provides accommodation for smaller groups? Are you targeting couples, honeymooners, families, groups of friends, or all of the above? Choose the house that will best meet your target market's needs and likes.
