Groove and Countermove (2000) Trisha Brown: In Plain Site, Los Angeles, CA  © Reed Hutchinson

In the New York tri-state area, May is typically a bustling month for dance, and this year certainly lives up to that reputation!

On May 6 at the 92nd Street YMCA in New York City, students from Tisch School of the Arts/New York University, Purchase College, and Bard College, plus TBDC's Leah Ives, all shared the stage to perform four of Trisha's most beloved works: Set and Reset/Reset, Glacial Decoy, Foray Forêt, and Locus Solo.

Next week, the Company performs in  Dance Off The Grid on May 12  at the Emelin Theater  in Mamaroneck, New York.

Looking ahead to the summer months, August 16-19 we are thrilled to participate in the  85th Anniversary of Jacob's Pillow Dance with performances of Trisha Brown: In Plain Site, L'Amour au théâtre Groove and Countermove, and Opal Loop / Cloud Installation #72503, featuring  TBDC alumni.

We are especially delighted to welcome our friends, patrons, and supporters to our Spring Gala on Monday, May 15, in celebration of the life and work of Trisha Brown and special guest Babette Mangolte. We hope you will join us!

Best wishes,

Diane Madden & Carolyn Lucas

Dance in NYC This Week , by Gia Kourlas
It's still hard to believe that Trisha Brown, the postmodern visionary, is no longer in the world. She died in March; at least her dances survive. In this special presentation, Leah Ives performs Locus (1975), while excerpts from Glacial Decoy (1979), Set and Reset/Reset (1983 and 2017) and Foray Forêt (1990) will be danced by students from Purchase College, New York University and Bard College. Susan Rosenberg, the author of the newly released Trisha Brown: Choreography as Visual Art, will be on hand for a reading, discussion and book signing. A panel discussion featuring members and collaborators of the Trisha Brown Dance Company will follow.

May 24-27, 2017 at 7:30pm
Purchase College Conservatory of Dance will present a concert featuring Glacial Decoy (1979), taught by Diane Madden with Leah Morrison.
