SHAPING OUR FUTURE
ANALYSIS UNVEILING
MAY 25TH
The next Ten at the Top Regional Forum will be held on May 25th from 2:30-4:30 p.m. (reception to follow) at the BMW Zentrum. You won't want to miss the unveiling of the results from the 10-month Shaping Our Future Growth Analysis.

The 10-county Upstate region is growing. By 2040, our region's population is projected to reach nearly 1,750,00 - an increase of 64% since 1990. How and where we grow will have real impacts on our quality of life - affecting commute times and transportation choices, air and water quality and our pocket books. The Shaping Our Future Growth Analysis is an opportunity to explore and debate alternative patterns for growth keeping in mind their associated fiscal, environmental and quality of life trade-offs. Scenario planning tools have been used to evaluate the impacts of various development types including current growth trends. For more details, visit ShapingOurFutureUpstateSC.org

The Shaping Our Future study is being conducted through a partnership of Ten at the Top, Upstate Forever, the Riley Institute at Furman University and other community partners. More than 100 community leaders and stakeholders have been involved in the study analysis.

Cost to attend the forum is $10. Please click here for more details and to register.

AIR QUALITY AWARENESS WEEK:
VOLUNTARY EFFORTS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE
The week of May1-5 is recognized as Air Quality Awareness Week. Check out CleanAirUpstate.org for tips on how to play your role in keeping our air clean and safe for all residents.

Since 2012, Ten at the Top has coordinated the Upstate Air Quality Advisory Committee, which includes public, private and civic stakeholders all focused on ensuring the Upstate's air quality continues to meet federal standards.

Through voluntary efforts of many businesses, local governments and residents, the air quality in the Upstate is continuing to improve.

In the recently released American Lung Association State of the Air 2017 report, counties within the Upstate continued to see improvements in their rankings. Abbeville, Anderson, Oconee and Pickens counties received "A" ratings for Ozone while Greenville, Spartanburg and Cherokee received "B". In 2016, Spartanburg and Anderson were rated as a "C" and Cherokee a "D". Dating back to 2012, Spartanburg had received an "F" grade and the rest of the Upstate was rated as a "C", so the improvement within the region over the last few years has been remarkable and good for the health of all Upstate residents.

Check out the Ten at the Top Facebook Page all week for community activities as well as tips for continuing to reduce air pollution in the Upstate. #AirQualityAwarenessWeek
PROMOTING GLOBAL FLUENCY IN THE UPSTATE
During the Upstate Global Fluency Forum on April 27th, the message was clear: With nearly 500 International Companies, the Upstate is a proven global business destination, but ensuring that the region is welcoming to all companies and residents is critical to maintaining our place in the global economy.

The Regional Forum, co-hosted by Ten at the Top and Upstate International, included remarks from Brad Gosche, Director of the Global Fluency Institute in Columbus, Ohio.

In addition, a panel discussion included Patrick Terrien, CEO of the Columbus (OH) Council on World Affairs, Herrin Hood from Milliken, Reid Lohr from the EDI Group and Susan Simmons from Michelin.

Gosche's remarks and full panel discussion can be found on the Ten at the Top You Tube Channel.
