Here Piggy Piggy

How do you get eighth graders involved in world hunger? You have them raise money to buy a $500 pig. The eighth grade confirmation class sold baked goods on two Sunday mornings and raised $700 to purchase a wooden pig to help support the Synod's effort to raise money for ELCA World Hunger. Their pig was decorated by breaking balloons filled with water and paint. Faith's pig will join the rest of the synod congregations' pigs at the Synod Assembly on May 19th. Thank you for supporting world hunger!

Clive Community Services Projects

Seeds of Faith's Noisy Offering for January through April of this year was donated to Clive Community Services. The preschool families donated over $460 in change for their chapel offering. This money will be put towards supplies needed for their newly formed ESL classes. It will be used to purchase supplies such as whiteboards for the classrooms, picture dictionaries, classroom posters, and notebooks and pencils. The 6-week classes started on April 19th and will run through May 24th and includes 14 students! All are refugees from Burma. Volunteers for this program help each week in the class and include Faith's own Pam Mohr, Joan Strentz, Seana Jefferson, and Ann Drummond.

VBS Mission: Global Greens

This year, for the mission component of vacation bible school, the children will be learning about refugees, and refugees in Iowa. We will have guests from Lutheran Services in Iowa to teach the kids and showcase the LSI Global Greens project. We even plan to setup a mini LSI farmers market one of the evenings. Each night the VBS campers will collect a noisy offering to be donated towards the mission. The kids get very excited as the week goes on and are motivated to increase their donations each night! To build on that excitement, this year we are asking for members of the congregation to match their total collection. If you are interested in being part of a team of members who can match these funds, please contact Andrea or Erika at cfm@faithlc.org. Thank you for your support.
