Making It In Crafts III | May 12-Aug. 27 | This exhibition will feature 140 works by 51 prominent professional craft artists (clay, glass, metal, wood-working and fiber), from 25 states plus Canada and Australia. These artists make their livings by creating and selling fine-art crafts. Many are juried participants in the most prestigious art shows in the U.S. Guest curator Jim Sondgeroth has selected and invited each artist. This unique exhibit expands on the first two Making It In Crafts exhibits shown at the Art Museum in 2011 and 2014.

Adirondack Allure: Plein Air Paintings by Ron Burgess and Rick Wilson | Through June 4. Burgess and Wilson often paint outside together. Burgess is a Lafayette native who teaches at the Art Museum. Wilson is a native of Edinburgh, Indiana.

Art of the Endowment | Through June 4 | This exhibit focuses on the power of endowment and features permanent collection works purchased by the Art Museum with funds provided by the Connie F. and Richard E. Grace Endowment Fund.

Opening Reception |  An opening reception for the Making It In Crafts III exhibit will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, May 12, in the Shook Gallery. The exhibit features 140 works by 51 prominent professional craft artists. The reception is hosted by the Museum's Art League.

Friday Night Live will resume at 7 p.m. on June 30, with "On Rocks and Razors" by singer/songwriter/guitarist Travis Kearney. Free, thanks to sponsorship by Alberta Barker, Purdue Federal Credit Union, Jim and Sandy Bodenmiller.

Alberta Barker is the recipient of this year's Crystal Bison Award for Volunteerism. 
Alberta  is recognized for demonstrating an outstanding commitment to our community. Alberta has volunteered for the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette for six years. She has served on the Board of Directors, where she has held the titles of p resident  and vice p resident. 
Alberta is chair of the New Museum Planning Committee and a member of the Executive and Development Committees. She is also a member of the art Museum Foundation board.  Alberta has volunteered with the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra Foundation, the Association of Women in Communications, the Ivy Tech Regional Development Committee, and she was recently appointed by Gov. Eric Holcomb to the Indiana Arts Commission. As part of the award, Bison Financial has donated $1,500 to the Art Museum in honor of A lberta .
 
Westminster Village Is New Community Partner | Westminster Village has become a new community partner of the Art Museum. This support will greatly help the Museum in bringing art to the Greater Lafayette community. Plans are being made with the WMV staff for special Art Museum activities for residents throughout next year. Thank you, Westminster Village, for your support of our mission!

Upcoming  The 2nd Century Club's annual spring tour will take a look at the art and architecture of South Bend on June 21. Members of the Club, Museum Board and Foundation Board will join Museum Executive Director   K endall Smith and Sharon Theobald on this exclusive behind-the-scenes tour to the South Bend Museum of Art, Century Center and the University of Notre Dame Snite Museum of Art.  After a comfortable 55-passenger motor coach ride, lunch will at the Tippecanoe Place restaurant in the historic Studebaker Mansion. Then the group will join Executive Director Susan Visser for a tour of the South Bend Museum of Art in Century Center on the St. Joseph River. That will be f ollowed by a visit to the Snite Museum, led by Associate Director Anne Knoll. The group will depart at 9:30 a.m. and arrive back home at 6 p.m. Tickets are $65 pp, including transportation and lunch. Deadline is May 26. Reserve now at:

All Art Museum members  always get a 10% discount on studio art classes and purchases from the Museum Shop and the Columbian Park Zoo Gift Shop.
