                          Final Report On UA 3411

    (1) DR. Dao has settled with United Airlines .   He and his lawyers are likely millions of dollars richer.

Regardless of whether we think the dragging of  Dr. Dao on US 3411 was racially motivated, letting the matter settle in  this manner is likely the most effective way to stop UA from  committing the same mistake again.  Don't listen to folks who may not understand the U.S. well, and whose only solution
to any incident with an possible racial element is to demonstrate on the street.
To protect ourselves in the U.S. effectively, we need to follow an organization
like 80-20 .

    (2) UA  reported that its " involuntary denied boarding (IDB)  process is automated and customers are not subject to discretionary choice by agents."
Initially, a young couple and the Dao's were asked to leave.  Later, a woman
volunteered to leave in place of Mrs. Dao.  So the "3 out of 4 rejected were Asians" report was NOT accurate.

80-20 chooses to believe the UA report, because there are so many disgruntled UA  employees in the incident.  Had UA lied, the truth would have leaked out, and UA will be completely ruined given that the terrible "dragging" incident is already much on  UA's back.

     (3) UA upped the maximum amount to $10,000 to induce a bumped passenger to voluntarily give up his/her seat on overbooked flights.  When the "dragging" occurred, UA 's maximum  offer was only $800.

      80-20 considers the matter closed.
