The Londer Learning Center opened in September 1993 as one of 11 demonstration projects for corrections clients funded under the National Literacy Act of 1991.

Londer is the only program in Portland offering basic skills and GED prep with professional teachers outside the format of the community college. They receive calls almost daily from individuals wanting GED help whom they aren't able to serve.
