DEMO Festival
One of Ontario's largest mountain bike demo festivals returns to Uxbridge on May 6. The
DMBA DEMO Festival
features
the latest bikes and gear from leading manufacturers and
local
bike shops. There is fun for the whole family with Pancakes in the Forest and the Joyride 150 mini skills park. Admission to the festival is free; bike
demos are $10.

Festivals galore
It's festival time in Clarington this month. Visit the annual
Maplefest
on May 6 in downtown Bowmanville. Arrive early and enjoy the famous pancake breakfast. Treat your taste buds to delicacies, such as maple donuts, cheese and fudge. Explore unique items from craft and food vendors. Admission and parking are free!
Dare2Dream Farm celebrates its grand reopening on May 6. Stop by the farm to explore the role and tools of beekeeping. See inside a live beehive or enjoy some of the available family friendly activities. Beehive tours will take place on the hour from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. To reserve your spot, call 905-216-5113.
On May 20, head over to Archibald's Estate Winery for the
2017 Honey Bee Orchard Festival

Join Farmer Fred and Betty Bee for a narrated walk through the orchard. Learn why it's so important to have bees in an apple orchard during blossom time! Discover how local beekeepers care for their bees and extract honey. Bring the whole family for a fun day. Tours will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Indoor and outdoor fun
in Whitby
On May 6 celebrate Whitby's heritage by participating in
Doors Open 2017
! Explore a number of
historical locations in Brooklin and Whitby
, many of which are not normally open to the public. Must-see stops along the way include: the Camp X Memorial, Trafalgar Castle and the Lusted Residence. This free event is a great day out to explore the community and discover Whitby's heritage.
Attention all foodies! The Rotary Club of Whitby's
Food Truck Frenzy
returns May 27 and 28. Visit more than 30 food trucks featuring international dishes and desserts. Event takes place at the Iroquois Sports Complex parking lot. Free parking available at Whitby GO Transit station.

Filmmakers... Catch the DRIFF!
Durham Tourism is excited to announce the third annual Durham Region International Film Festival (DRIFF), taking place September 18 to 24. Building on the success of previous events, this film festival will celebrate interesting films from around the world.
Filmmakers are invited to join us in celebrating you, the artist. The festival's focus provides a platform to showcase your creative work, excite audiences and receive recognition for excellence in the arts.The
goal is to give you the opportunity to build great relationships and a sense of pride as you connect with the audience. Creative workshops are available to help you hone your craft. Features, shorts, documentaries, animation, comedies and student film projects are all invited for submission. Trophies will be awarded to first place winners in eight categories and three monetary prizes will also be awarded. For more details and to submit your film visit:

Durham Storytelling Gathering
in
Oshawa on May 18. Try your hand at storytelling, or find out more
about the Durham Folklore Storytellers, a forum for storytellers and those interested in the
oral tradition.

Jane's Walk Festival
The 11th annual Jane's Walk Festival returns to Durham Region the weekend of May 5 to 7. This one-of-a-kind festival is held in memory of the late Toronto activist and urbanist Jane Jacobs and features citizen-led walking tours that encourage participants to observe, reflect, share, question and collectively reimagine the places in which they live, work and play.
Walk or cycle through one of six area municipalities and enjoy a range of fascinating walks telling the stories of our region, its history, its characters, and its challenges. No registration is required and all walks are free.
