Empire GU Supporting USWNT Players
GU Funding to Member Athletes Named to World Cup Squad
The US Women's National Team is severely underfunded on an annual
basis and is continually fundraising or seeking additional streams of financial support.
Empire GU is taking the lead in providing support to these athletes, and specifically those representing the USWNT from EGU-member clubs.
In advance of the Women's Rugby World Cup, those EGU-member players selected for the final World Cup squad (full 28 plus reserves) will receive direct financial support from this fundraising effort.
Empire GU will match every donation made dollar-for-dollar, up to a total of $5,250. That would mean a potential of $10,500 raised for this important effort!
We look forward to supporting our EGU representatives to the USWNT in their effort to bring home the World Cup title!

NJ Men's High Performance - Open Practice April 30
High Performance Side to Compete on 5/21, 5/28 and 6/3
NJ Men's HP will be holding a open practice on Sunday April 30. Practice will start at 9am and run to 11am at 16 Pocono Road in Denville NJ.
All NJ players are encouraged to come out.

Meg Votta Memorial Scholarship
$1,000 College Scholarships to One Male and One Female
For the seventh
year, the Meg Votta Memorial Scholarship Committee will be awarding two college scholarships this year in the amount of $1,000 each to high school seniors, one male and one female, who are active members of the rugby community.
All graduating high school seniors from New Jersey, Connecticut, and New York, the Empire GU area are eligible for the scholarship.

6th Annual Beach Rugby 5s Tournament
Brooklyn Rugby hosting event on June 3 in Coney Island
Brooklyn Rugby is hosting its 6th Annual Beach Rugby 5s Tournament in Coney Island on Saturday, June 3, 2017.
It is a 5-on-5 beach co-ed touch rugby tournament (max. 12 persons per team) and is a great way to kick off the summer with some sun and rugby, followed by beer and food on the boardwalk.

Rugby NJ Hosting Regional Challenge Tournaments
Looking for Coaches and Managers for HS Teams
Rugby New Jersey, the state-based organization charged with developing youth rugby in the State of New Jersey, will host one of five USA Rugby Regional Challenge Tournaments. The event will be held on June 17-18
in Rahway, NJ. This high-performance tournament will serve as the USA Rugby Pathway and College Showcase for the most accomplished high school rugby players in the Northeast.
Coaching and managing opportunities are available for all divisions - Boys and Girls sides at the Varsity and JV levels. Rugby NJ plans to register one team in each division.
