Dear Friends,

This week is National Teacher Appreciation Week, a time to reflect on the positive contributions teachers have on their students.  I would like to thank all of the teachers at Assumption Catholic School for their dedication to providing a high quality academic, spiritual, and social education.

Their quest to developing the whole child is evident in their selfless commitment to planning, preparing, and presenting lessons. The job of a teacher does not stop at the classroom door. Often they are de facto parents, counselors, coaches, and cheerleaders.  Our teachers fill these roles willingly and generously to all students in their charge.

It is often said that teachers are undervalued, underpaid, and underappreciated.  This may be true, but they are truly blessed, fulfilled, and rewarded for playing a small part in developing the potential of all students to become responsible, caring, and contributing members of the global community.

I ask that you take a moment this week to say thank you to an important teacher in your life.  Send a nice email or note of appreciation, or if I know teachers...chocolate goes a long way to show you care.

Many Blessings,

Steven J. Santoli

Bishop's Scholarship Fund and Financial Assistance
Financial Aid and Appeal Procedure

Families must complete the FACTS Grant & Aid application at  FACTS MGT.COM to receive any financial assistance for the 2017-18 school year. All financial assistance is granted on a yearly basis and not guaranteed from year to year.

Financial assistance decisions are based on the financial need assessment performed by FACTS. Certain hardship cases will be considered at the local level.

Bishop's Scholarship Fund (Round 1)
The first round of the BSF scholarships have been awarded.  To qualify, you were required to submit your paper application, enroll in the school, and complete the FACTS Grant & Aid Application online by the April 1 Deadline.

By this time you should have been notified of your award and accepted it through an email link sent directly from FACTS. If you don't accept the award now, you risk losing the scholarship.  If you were not granted an award you should have been notified by now.

Bishop's Scholarship Fund (Round 2)
Any family that met the original April 1 deadline, but was missing a portion of the application process had until May 1 to complete the process and will be reviewed for the second round of awards.  This process is ongoing and should make notification by the end of May.

Local Scholarships and Grants
Kremer Foundation
Families eligible to receive a scholarship from the Kremer Foundation are asked to return their applications by Monday, May 15.  All eligible families should have received an application from the main office last week.

CEO Foundation
All eligible families have been awarded and accepted their scholarships.

Other Scholarships
Privately funded scholarships are currently being awarded to eligible families by the Assumption Catholic School administration and SAB.  Notification of these awards will be complete by May 15.

Appeals to the Tuition Assistance Committee
If a family feels they need more financial assistance after all scholarship funds have been exhausted, they are invited to make an appeal to the Tuition Assistance Committee.  The TAC is a group, independent of the school administration, that hears appeals and determines eligibility for Assumption Grants.

To be considered for tuition assistance the family must have applied for BSF and met the April 1 deadline.  Applications and instructions will be distributed to eligible families by May 15.

If you have any questions about your eligibility for financial assistance, please contact Mr. Santoli directly.
