Five "Big Picture" Scientists Have Influenced My Thinking on the Unthinkable
by J. Morris Hicks
All of them are featured in my latest Power-Point presentation that I updated last week. Beginning with Jacques Cousteau, here are their slides, with a relevant quote from each:
What do I think?Last week, I told a dear friend that I had decided to just enjoy the luxuries of our advanced civilization for as long as I may exist on this planet. Whether civilization ends in 10 years, 40 years or 100 years, the odds appear to suggest that Mother Nature may not have a plan for humankind in her future.
Obviously, I sincerely hope that I'm wrong about this most disturbing topic and I urge you to do some research and draw your own conclusions. After all, no one knows for sure what the future holds.
Now what? Always the optimist, I choose not to dwell on things like the probable end of civilization; but rather, during my final few decades (now 72), I plan to do all that I can to help my fellow humans enjoy the benefits of improved health for as long as they may live.
What can improve our chances? If there is a chance for our civilization to survive, that chance will depend, at least in part, on an urgent shift by humankind away from the eating of animals. As such, I truly believe that I can contribute far more to making that dietary shift happen with ARCH than by any amount of speaking and/or writing that I could ever do. So, I've decided to just "follow the money" and
Go for it with ARCH!
Get Healthy, Make Money, Live Large and Hope that our food choices can save the day for our species.
As I said in BSB #88, now that I am excited about my new mission, I am feeling better already.
Be well,
J. Morris (Jim) Hicks
