Dear Jones Family,

I hope all of you had an enjoyable Spring Break. We are now entering into the busiest time of the year, complete with concerts, sports, dances, AP exams, and culminating with our annual commencement ceremony on June 15. As we are getting ready to say farewell to the Class of 2017, we are welcoming our newest JCP Eagles, the Class of 2021.

Springtime often brings with it distractions that cause our kids to take their eyes off the ball. Seniors aren't the only high school students to experience some version of "senioritis." School is still very much in session, so please help your students to stay focused -- as much as is possible!

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at any time at  [email protected]  or 773-534-8606 (direct office line).   You can f ollow me on Twitter @PJOSEPHPOWERS.

Best Wishes,

P. Joseph Powers, Ph.D.

Around Campus

Asian American Literature Students in Chinatown

Students in Asian American Literature class are currently studying Amy Tan's The Joy Luck Club. During this unit, students visited Chinatown, which allowed them to explore different places such as important historical buildings, art galleries, restaurants, gift shops, etc. Visiting Chinatown provided students with an appreciation for Chinese culture, customs, and traditions. It was also a great way to expose students to an ethnic neighborhood that is so close to JCP.

Book Fair
Donate Your Used Books

Jones College Prep will host a used book sale in the north parking lot on Saturday, June 10, during Chicago's annual

Annual Fund

The end of the school year is fast approaching...help us make our $200,000 goal!

Please consider a gift of any size to t he Annual Fund. Proceeds are used to bridge the gap between what CPS allocates to run the school, and what it really takes. This year alone FOJ has funded a myriad of grants for clubs, classrooms, teams and campus productions. These are the opportunities for our students that set Jones apart. FOJ funds are also used to help maintain staffing and programming during these challenging times facing the district.

Thank  you for helping to make JCP an exceptional school.
