Dear Friends of Mercy,

I hope you had a restful and wonderful Easter break! I'm delighted to announce that Mrs. Patricia Sattler, Dean of Students at Gabriel Richard Catholic High School in Riverview, will be the next Principal of Mercy High School beginning July 1, 2017. Mrs. Sattler has served as a team chair for the AdvancED accreditation process, has elementary through high school experience, and expertise in instructional improvement and technology. She is a dedicated Catholic, family member, lifetime learner, and Catholic educator who embraces the Mercy charism.

The search process that led to Mrs. Sattler was comprehensive. A survey was sent to the Mercy community and information compiled concerning what qualifications, qualities and experience the candidates should possess. A Search Committee of 22 stakeholders conducted an evaluation of candidates based on strategies and values gleaned from the surveys, the Mercy Values, Vision and Strategic Plan.

The Search Committee sought a seasoned, spiritual, highly capable leader, a person with the ability to promote and embrace the mission of Mercy High School. Candidates had phone and in-person interviews, performed writing exercises and gave a presentation. Finalists participated in a question and answer forum with all staff and a group of students.

At Gabriel Richard, Mrs. Sattler recently led the initiative to implement a 1:1 technology program and redesign of curriculum offerings to expand STEM opportunities, restructured departmental approaches to using data for assessing student achievement, revamped professional development to better support long term academic strategies; and increased parent communication and involvement.

Pat earned her M.A. in Teaching and Learning with Educational Technology from Madonna University and B.A. from Wayne State University. Previously, she taught for 15 years within the Archdiocese of Detroit, served as an Adjunct Professor at Madonna University, served on Parish Council and Social Ministry Committee at St. Joseph Parish Trenton and is a published author, "Giving Students a Voice through Technology."

Pat and her husband, Eric, have been married for 30 years and have three grown children.

Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Patricia Sattler to Mercy High School!

In Mercy,

Message from Mrs. Patricia Sattler
Dear Mercy Community,

I am honored to accept the position of Principal at Mercy High School. I chose to join the Mercy team because of the innovative experiences that empower all students to reach their full potential academically, spiritually and with compassion. Mercy is known throughout the Detroit Metropolitan Area for the challenging curriculum, unique experiences and programs, positive relationships and supportive learning environment that inspires each student.

I come to Mercy from Gabriel Richard Catholic High School in Riverview where I currently hold the position of Dean of Students. Aside from administrative experience, my specialty over the past 15 years has been in educational technology and instructional and process improvement. My leadership style is reflective of the various roles I have experienced as an administrator, teacher, team member and parent of three children who attended K-12 Catholic education.

The Mercy family allows each of our students to embrace a sisterhood that will support them through high school and beyond. As alumnae, parents and supporters, you understand the value of a faith based comprehensive college preparatory curriculum and a strong legacy foundation. I am committed to upholding the mission and vision of a Mercy education that ensures continued academic excellence and spiritual formation for our students.

I am grateful for the opportunity to work in partnership with you and the entire Mercy community to continue the tradition of inspiring character development and high academic achievement.

Grace and blessings on our path,

Mrs. Patricia Sattler
