West Laurel Hill Cemetery
215 Belmont Avenue, Bala Cynwyd
Join the Conservancy at Bala Cynwyd's idyllic West Laurel Hill Cemetery as Dr. Dennis Montagna, Director of the National Parks Service's Monument Research & Preservation Program, traces the seeds of nineteenth-century rural and garden cemeteries. During many periods of American history, cemeteries have delighted the living as much as they have sheltered the deceased. As refuges for wildlife and sites of great beauty, they continue to attract great interest. During his lecture, Dr. Montagna will share his recent work on the rise of spare, memorial-park-style cemeteries during the mid-twentieth century.
Wine and cheese reception begins at 6:30 pm
with lecture beginning promptly at 7:00 pm.
