Pittsboro Festival Boasts Over Twenty Local and NC Acts in this Year's Spring Lineup
Honoring its roots, the Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance celebrates NC culture and music
May 2, 2017

Pittsboro, NC - The annual spring version of the Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance is right around the corner, and this season's lineup contains at least 20 musical acts hailing from the festival's hometown and surrounding areas.

Celebrating the 15 th annual springtime festival this year, the Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival pulls bands of various genres from all over the country to keep up its reputation of offering "something for everyone." In addition to bands coming from everywhere, attendees of the festival travel long distances to hear the music and experience the rich culture of the festival, which continues to pursue a goal of teaching the importance of art and sustainability to all of its attendees.

Despite all of these out-of-town participants, the festival still remembers the importance of home. Many bands that were formed in Pittsboro and surrounding areas of North Carolina will be performing at the festival this year for the hundreds of festival attendees, many of whom live in the area and appreciate what the festival does each year for the community. Education and perseveration of the arts are important to all musicians, and performing in the festival is a way for many local bands to support Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival's efforts in promoting the arts to the community.

Some of the local bands in this year's lineup include: Sarah Shook & The Disarmers, Dex Romweber Duo, Crucial Fiya, Williamson Brothers Bluegrass Band, Django Haskins, The Beast, Orquesta GarDel, Apple Chill Cloggers, The Hoppin' Johnnies, Ellis Dyson & The Shambles, Big Fat  Gap, The Five Points Rounders Rowdy Square Dance, Dwight Hawkins & The Piedmont Highballers, Blue Cactus, DISHOOM, DJ Tymellord, Muningu, Will Ridenour & Gabriel Pelli, Carolina Ukulele Ensemble, and djs in the Shakori Hills Vinyl Lounge.

The festival wants to be a place that local artists call home, and many already do. Both Shakori Hills and the artists on their spring lineup enhance the culture of the arts in their local community. The festival hopes to continue that partnership for all of their future festivals.
