Easterseals Celebrates Volunteers - Both Two and Four-Legged
Here is a great picture and part of an article from Easterseals. Read the full story here.

Bill Sudell may be the 'official' volunteer when he signs in for duty at the Easterseals in New Castle but it's his dog, Skipper, who is the star of the show. For the last six years Bill Sudell and Skipper, an eight-year-old Schnoodle, have brightened the days of the people who attend Easterseals day services.

"Skipper is the star! I just hold the leash. It is fun to see how excited people get to see Skipper," Sudell said. "My favorite part about volunteering with Easterseals is the friends I have made with the participants and staff. The staff are very nice, friendly and appreciative!"

Bill chooses to volunteer through PAWS for People because he enjoys the interaction with people and is a huge dog lover. He says that if he were ever in a position where he could not own a dog he would like to visit with them and realizes how much it means to the people at Easterseals.

"Bill and Skipper have been a wonderful and welcomed addition to the Adult Day program," Gwen Harris, Easterseals Center Director, said. "The participants look forward to the playful interaction with great excitement and energy. The visits seem to renew the spirit and elicit fond memories from their childhood. It's very touching to see a participant who was extremely afraid of dogs now embrace Skipper and Bill without hesitation. The smiles on the faces tell the story best!"

Shining Stars
Nancy Brock, Molly, & Honey
Nancy joined PAWS in September of 2009. She visits with her Golden Retriever, Molly, and her Yellow Lab, Honey. Since joining PAWS, this advanced, AKC Canine Good Citizen Awarded team has become Master's Certified. They can be found bringing the joys of pet therapy to Einstein Academy as a PAWS for Reading team. Recently, Einstein Academy was receiving bomb threats. Nancy was proactive by discussing the situation and her PERTT Training with the staff. Since then, Nancy is called to visit with the children at their safe place until reentry of the school is permitted. This team exemplifies selflessness and courage. They are truly terrific!
Lisa Borkoski
Lisa and Loki, her Boxer, have been a wonderful PAWS team since joining in April of 2015. This Advanced team visits with Manor House and participates in the PAWS for Reading Program at the Seaford Library. Lisa and Loki can always be found representing PAWS at Community Events. What a fantastic team!
Sites to Celebrate

Finally, PAWS has opened our first partnering school in Selbyville, DE! Showell Elementary second grade students welcomed PAWS team Sandi Roberts and her greyhound, Janey, this week into their class. Sandi and Janey will be working with select students between now and the end of the school year on strengthening their literacy skills. Our plan is to have many more volunteer teams at this school come fall. We're so happy to welcome this program to schools in Sussex County!
