The City Staff would like to thank The Albion City Council and City Manager Sheryl Mitchell for hosting an Employee Holiday party. 
 
Thank You Council Members Andy French, Jeanette Spicer, Maurice Barnes and Marcola Lawler for taking time to come and enjoy the festivities.
A "VERY SPECIAL THANKS"   to Council Member Lenn Reid for the wonderful meal she prepared, the "FUN" games, and the gifts for door prizes. 
A wonderful time was had by all!!!!
December 2017 "Employee of the Month"
 
 
Kent has been one you could depend on when things got in a pickle at the Waste Water Treatment Plant.  Kent worked in the Lab at the Waste Water Treatment Plant before being promoted to Interim Superintendent.  He is constantly working on trying to improve the treatment plant and its operation.  He has been to go to guy and is a very valued asset to the City of Albion.

GREEN SCENE POP UP SHOP
OPENS FOR THE HOLIDAYS!
 
Albion has a new pop up shop downtown on Superior Street! Green Scene of Marshall has opened a pop up shop at Stirling Books & Brew. The shop features specialty items such as soaps, woolen hats and mittens, chemical-free products, and much more! Store Hours from November 15 through January 5 are:
Monday through Saturday 12pm-7pm and Sunday 12pm-5pm.   
 

 




The City Council held a study session on Monday, December 18th to discuss the details of a Medical Marihuana Ordinance. John Tracy, Director of Planning, Building, & Code Enforcement and Lauren Freeman (pictured), AmeriCorps VISTA, created maps for Council to determine possible facility locations and buffers.



"RECREATION UPDATE"
 


 
 
THE RECREATION DEPARTMENT OFFERS THE FOLLOWING OPEN SWIM OPPORTUNITIES AT THE ALBION COMMUNITY CENTER POOL LOCATED AT THE MARSHALL OPPORTUNITY HIGH SCHOOL, 225 WATSON STREET:
 
Adults who are interested in swimming laps will be offered on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:00 pm. There is a $3.00 fee which can be paid at the door.
 
Grades 5-8 Open Swim will be offered on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7:30 -9:00 pm. There is a $1.00 fee which can be paid at the door.
 
Families ONLY swim will be offered on Saturday from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm.  There is a $1.00 fee per person up to a maximum of $5.00 per family which can be paid at the door.
 
 
 
 


Water Aerobic Classes will continue on Tuesday and Thursday evening until December 21, 2017.  The fee for the classes is $3.00 per session and can be paid at the door.  You can register at the door.




 
OPEN GYM OPPORTUNITIES:
 
Open Walking-Monday-Friday from 9:00 am- 10:00 am and Saturday from 9:00 am - 11:00 am @ The Albion Community Center.  NO FEE!
 

 
Adult Open Gym (Basketball) will be on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00-9:00 pm @ the Albion Community Center.  There is a $1.00 fee per session.
 
 
 
Grades 5-8 open gym will be on Monday from 5:00-8:00 pm and Wednesday evenings from 6:00-9:00 pm @ The Albion Community Center.  There is a $1.00 fee per session.





Play Right Basketball Academy:  Play Right Basketball Academy is offered on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 4:00-6:00 pm @The Albion Community Center. This program is for all students, boys and girls in grades 3rd-8th and will run throughout the school year.  The Academy is offered in partnership with the Battle Creek YMCA.  Milton Barnes is the Program Director.  There is a $10.00 per month fee.  Further questions can be directed to Milton Barnes at mbarnes@playrightbasketball.com.


 
Blazer Track: Indoor Conditioning.  The Blazer Track Club under the direction of Dan Davis in partnership with the Albion Recreation Department will be offering a winter conditioning/track program during the winter.  Practices are on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00 - 7:30 pm @ The Albion Community Center.  For more information contact Coach Davis @ 517-914-5288.
