The Village of Glen Ellyn, the Glen Ellyn Park District, the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce, the Glen Ellyn Public Library, the Glen Ellyn Environmental Commission and WDCB Radio are celebrating Earth Day, a national day which focuses on the environment.

Recycling Extravaganza

Bring a wide variety of recyclable items to this event to ensure they are reused. There is NO electronic recycling this year.
  • Batteries Plus: Non-mercury batteries, car-truck-boat-motorcycle-sump pump-laptop-UPS
  • Boy Scouts of America: American flags
  • Epaint Recycling Solutions: Fee Charged — Latex: $2/gallon, $10/five-gallon; Oil-based: $8/gallon, $20/five-gallon. Payment cash/credit. No non-architecture paint, spray cans, solvents or leaking cans accepted.
  • Fluorecycle, Inc.: Fee Charged — .50 cents per bulb, accepting only 12 bulbs per car; CFLs and 4’ fluorescent lamps only
  • The GardenWorks Project: Trowels, hand cultivators, rakes, hoes, pitchforks, shovels, watering cans, vegetable gardening books for adults/kids. No tomato cages or fences accepted.
  • Habitat for Humanity: Cabinets, doors (solid core only), electrical and light fixtures, flooring, windows, window AC, mill-work/lumber, working tools
  • Lion’s Club: Eyeglasses, hearing aids, printing cartridges
  • Salvation Army: Clothing, home goods, cell phones
  • SCARCE: Books, records, buttons, rulers, yarn, crayons
  • Working Bikes: Working bikes, accessories, helmets
NOT ACCEPTING: Prescription drugs, hazardous waste/chemicals, mercury thermometers, stereo speakers in wooden boxes. NO ELECTRONICS.
