Mema
By: Lebrevon Austin
People come and go just like money does.
When I was twelve I was playing football
But when my grandma died I just couldn't think at al.l
When that happened to the fam it's like we hit a brick wall.
I was at the house that day till 8,
My little cousins told me the next day they heard screaming like she got shot.
They told me all this happened at around 11 o'clock.
Then she was gone, now her heart is with God.
Word Legos
By: Chaten Sibia
Night goes like a film in a theater, it keeps me from seeing others.
Small noises hurt my ears,
when it goes away I feel like I can actually use
my eyes.
Like I see outside and know who's at the door.
It was the same person at night but the dark
didn't let me know.
The dark made me think the guest at the door
was hiding,
We turned our sun on and realized it was my
uncle,
After all this drama the sky put on daylight
makeup.
The daylight soiled on my lawn and I was
lighted with joy.
Ten Little Poetry Lines
By: Jack Logan
The ocean was glistening like a glass field.
It was as pure as winters snow.
It causes the urge to submerge oneself in it like a bath,
The roaring waves calls from afar,
On the land bar as far as the eye can see
Is where the ocean is calling.
Through the streets I flee, dropping all obligations because here is where I want to be, nowhere else but the sea,
Out in the open waters is where the real peace is to me.
When the sun kisses the sea,
the sunset is so clean like a sky.
Memory Poem
By: Jack Tobias
There was a breeze and the night air was
chilling,
As I take each step hoping I am not too early
I am wearing short sleeve, collared shirt as blue
as her eyes,
and khaki pants that resemble the glow her skin
emits,
I approach the door and take three heavy breaths.
I hear people inside.
I give three hard knocks rattling the door
frame.
The door slowly creeps open and light starts to
leak out.
There, I meet eyes with her, the girl that changes it all.
She makes every breath I was fighting for
irrelevant and all the sudden my worries wash
away.
I didn't care about what I am doing later that
night or later that week,
I just care about that one moment, the present
And in that very moment the feeling I get leads
me to believe that I have truly found the love of
my life.
But people change.
Ode to my Bed
By: Lauren Grijalva
Oh, beautiful bed,
With your white, soft sheet.
Just like a cloud, fluffy and big
The place I start; the place I end.
Every new day, wrapped up in my sheets
Like a cocoon, in my blankets,
I feel safe, like I have a personal bubble.
I can always rely on it, like a best friend.
Watching movies in my bed, sleeping,
Laying on my pillows, this is where I'm happy
