Cents-Ability Funds Available

Cents-Ability is a small first step in the battle against hunger and poverty. An effort of the Presbyterian Hunger Program (PHP), Cents-Ability encourages congregations to invite church members of all ages to contribute a few cents at every meal. This simple act is an expression of thanks for what we have received. It is also a commitment to share with others in response to Jesus' command "You give them something to eat."
Cents-Ability originated in 1976 as "Two-Cents-A-Meal," a project begun by Presbyterian Women to involve individuals and families in a corporate response to world hunger.
These small acts of faithfulness can certainly add up: one hundred persons in a congregation can potentially contribute $180 a month at two cents a meal. That's $2,160 dollars a year!
The Presbytery of Baltimore receives approximately $1,600 annually in Cents-Ability funds. And, now, the agency is poised to distribute those funds to
congregations who are working to alleviate hunger -- meaning members are directly involved with the program within the church building. This might include (among other things) a soup kitchen, "backpack" program, summer camp meals, winter shelter, or a food closet.
This Spring, the Presbytery will distribute up to $500 in grants for church food programs, based on available funds and number of applicants.
The deadline for applying for a Cents-Ability grant is May 15. To apply, simply s
ubmit one paragraph describing your ministry and how additional funding from Cents-Ability might help. Also include contact information for the leader of your church's hunger program. This information will be published later by the Presbytery to illustrate the good works that can be accomplished with financial support from Cents-Ability.

Presbytery of Baltimore Seeks New Stated Clerk
The Presbytery of Baltimore (PCUSA) is
seeking to fill the position of Stated Clerk. The Stated Clerk serves as Secretary and Parliamentarian for the Presbytery and its Steering Cabinet. The Stated Clerk is elected by the Presbytery and reports to the General Presbyter. We are seeking a ruling or teaching elder of PCUSA who has good interpersonal relationship skills; strong organizational and computer skills with an emphasis on attention to detail; a commitment to a spirit of impartiality; a willingness to work collegially and collaboratively with staff and committee members, and knowledge of, or a willingness to learn, the Book of Order and the Roberts Rules of Order. This is a part-time position with the Presbytery.

Presbytery of Baltimore Seeks Part-Time Financial Administrator
The Presbytery of Baltimore seeks a part-time (19 hours/week)
Financial Administrator
for the PC(USA)  denominational headquarters in the Baltimore, MD region (67 churches). The ideal candidate will have a college degree, experience with financial administration (preferably in a non-profit setting), and good communication skills. The working environment is purpose-driven and collegial.
Duties include creating and distributing financial statements and giving statements; managing loans, investment income distribution, third-party payroll service, and relationship with auditors; attending Trustee and other meetings as requested; and supervising the bookkeeper.
