For the seventh consecutive year, FAU's John D. MacArthur campus is named a Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation. Tree Campus USA is a designation that honors towns, cities, colleges, universities and their leaders for promoting healthy urban forest management and engaging their communities in environmental stewardship.  The Jupiter campus will celebrate this honor on Arbor Day.

Join us in the Robert J. Huckshorn Arboretum on FAU's Jupiter campus for National Arbor on April 28th at 10:30 a.m.. This year the Huckshorn Arboretum, developed and managed by Alana Edwards (CES), will celebrate its 12th anniversary and its 7th year as an officially designated Tree Campus USA. To celebrate this year's theme, Art in the Arboretum, participants will enjoy performances by FAU visual and performing arts students. Light refreshments will be served. An RSVP is requested.

On March 16-18, more than 1,000 students from as far away as Puerto Rico and China gathered

	ASCE SE Student Conference 2017 Credit: FAU Engineering

for the ASCE Southeast Student Conference  hosted by FAU's Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatics Engineering.  FAU's team  received seven awards and  placed fifth overall - the best showing ever. 

FAU's Dr. Fred Bloetscher, a  key organizer, said, "The Environmental Competition required contestants to filter water to remove Methyl Blue, a blue dye. And overall the conference reflected the ASCE's focus on sustainability in design."

Students networked and competed in typical engineering challenges such as Steel Bridge and Surveying, as well as less traditional ones like Ladder Golf and Concrete Frisbee. Presentations, games, and an awards banquet rounded out the program.
