Eastern Sierra Land Trust   ◊   April 2017 E-Newsletter
Eastern Sierra Land Trust

Spring is full of transformations. All around us, flowers are blooming, trees are leafing, and calves are frolicking in green fields. The Native Plant Demonstration Garden in our office front yard is in bloom too, just in time to show off for our upcoming GardenFest Celebration next weekend.

And as I watch the transformations in nature, I'm aware of an internal transformation too. There's something about watching young buds unfurl that makes me want to step out from the stillness of winter and into the rebirth of spring.

I look out my window at the mountains cloaked in snow, and John Muir's words spring to mind. "Another glorious day, the air as delicious to the lungs as nectar to the tongue." Last Friday was his birthday.

This beautiful land that he - like you - loved fills our lungs and souls with wonder, each and every day. Thank you for helping to conserve this magical place forever.

Best,
Kay Ogden,  Executive Director

What's Next At Conway Ranch
You helped conserve this iconic landscape - now you can have a hand in determining its future

Spectacular views. Seeping springs. Homes for wildlife such as mule deer, bobcat, and the Bi-State sage-grouse.

This is Conway Ranch - and thanks to you and community leadership, this special place was voluntarily conserved in 2014, providing a lasting connection to our region's history and economic identity.

Now discussions are taking place to determine how Conway Ranch will be managed into the future, and your voice can make a difference.

Volunteers are Restoring the Corridor
We're teaming up to improve habitat for wildlife in the Round Fire burn area

The 2015 Round Fire damaged portions of the Round Valley mule deer herd's migration corridor - an important habitat area for the deer and other wildlife.

This spring, volunteers are joining hands to plant and protect native plant seedlings that wildlife need to thrive.

Our volunteer team got a lot done last Tuesday, and we'll be out there again on May 2 to continue our work. Join us!
