Ursinus College has again received funding from a local business council interested in promoting business acceleration in the greater Philadelphia area. This funding enables Ursinus College to offer a great summer program to
7 young local businesses seeking assistance to grow their businesses at NO CHARGE to them. Ursinus College is, through this wonderful initiative, able to pay teams of 2 students to provide assistance to 5 chosen businesses, full-time for 8 weeks starting in the end of May. Assistance will be provided in the form of a targeted project to facilitate growth that can reasonably be completed in 8 weeks. Areas of need that could be supported include, but are not limited to:

Memoir Writing Workshop: Getting to the Heart of Your Story
The Lower Providence Community Library will host a Memoir Writing Workshop presented by author, journalist and experienced book editor Susan G. Weidener. The workshops will be held on 4 consecutive Mondays; April 24, May 1, 8 & 15 from 6:30 - 8:00 PM.
How do we find the stories in our lives? How do we discover meaning in those stories? And what are good strategies to write about them? Whether you have a work-in-progress memoir or are just starting your memoir journey, this four-week class, using writing prompts, discussion and instruction in memoir, will help you get to the heart of your story. This workshop is suitable for writers of all levels and experience.
Susan G. Weidener received her BA in Literature from American University and her MS in Education from the University of Pennsylvania. She joined the staff of The Philadelphia Inquirer in 1991 and worked as a reporter in the Inquirer's suburban bureau until 2007. Susan started the Women's Writing Circle, a critique and support group for writers in suburban Philadelphia. She is the author of two bestselling memoirs, Again in a Heartbeat, a memoir of love, loss and dating again and its sequel, Morning at Wellington Square. Her debut novel, A Portrait of Love and Honor, based on her late husband's memoir, takes the reader from the halls of the United States Military Academy at West Point during the Vietnam War to an inspiring love story between two people destined to meet. Susan offers writing workshops and talks on memoir and has appeared as guest speaker at universities and libraries throughout the Philadelphia region.

Ride with the Mayor! As Trappe celebrates its 300th Anniversary in 2017, BIKESPORT invites you to join us for a celebratory bicycle event "Ride with the Mayor". The ride is approximately 3 miles long, and welcomes individuals and families (kids who can ride on their own should bring their bikes, or adults can pull them by child tandem or trailer). Ride begins ( 9 a.m.)and ends at Trappe Borough Hall, 525 W Main St., Trappe. Refreshments and photos with Mayor Connie Peck after the ride. |

Community Memorial Day Parade - We owe so much to our veterans, and it is especially bittersweet yet joyful to honor those still with us! This year's Community Memorial Day Parade will start at 10 a.m. on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29, 2017 (no rain date). This years theme is Trappe 300th Anniversary. The parade route is the same as last year, starting at Augustus Lutheran Church in Trappe on Seventh Ave., then downhill on Main St. in Trappe to Waterworks Park. The parade ends at the Park at noon with a Remembrance Observance followed by a Community Day which will feature great food, live music, and free entertainment and games for kids!
The non-profit Collegeville Economic Development Corp. (CEDC) and the Memorial Day Parade Committee volunteer their time and energy to bring this parade to the community every year.
