Dr. Douglas "Doug" G. Hatridge
We are very pleased to introduce Dr. Doug Hatridge, President Elect of the Lee's Summit Symphony Board of Directors.
Doug is from Kirkwood, Missouri and graduated from Kirkwood High School in 1966. He went on to become a "Tri Tiger" receiving his Bachelor of Science in Education, Master of Education and Doctorate in Education from the University of Missouri at Columbia. During his time at the University of Missouri, Doug was active in the Student Senate, MNEA/MSTA Vice President, College of Education Student Council and Beta Theta Pi Social Fraternity.
Doug's first job out of college was teaching and coaching job with the Centralia, Missouri School District. He moved on to the Columbia School District serving in various capacities including teacher, coach, counselor and assistant principal. Doug's next stop was at the Lee's Summit R-7 School District serving as an assistant principal at Lee's Summit High School. He moved to the Moberly, "the Magic City" Missouri school district serving as the principal of the high school. Next, he moved to Fort Osage where he served as Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources. Since 2003, Doug has been affiliated with the University of Central Missouri and has served in a number of capacities including Assistant Director for Alternative Certification.
Doug is a published author of numerous articles pertaining to education in the state of Missouri. He is a member of several professional educational organizations at both the state and national levels. He is, also, very active with the Department of Missouri Elementary and Secondary Education. He continues to be active with the University of Missouri College of Education.
In addition to all of his activities with the Symphony, Doug is active with the Lee's Summit Breakfast Optimist Club, serving as Vice President. He and his wife, Helen, are active members of the Lee's Summit United Methodist Church.
Doug and Helen have a son, Roger, who is married to Kyoung Hee. They also have a daughter, Martha Ann "Marti" Hatridge. Henry and Walter are their two grandsons.
Doug still manages to play seniors softball in his spare time and has been known to play the tuba from time to time. He is one busy gentleman!
We thank Doug for his countless hours of volunteerism for the Lee's Summit Symphony and congratulate him on being the next President of the Lee's Summit Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors.
