Chairman's Address
Friends, 

The May 16th Primary Election is now under three weeks away. With it approaching so quickly I must ask all Republicans throughout the County to please step up and help maximize our poll coverage throughout the area. 

Making sure primary voters know who our candidates are is going to be vital to having success at the ballot box. We have seven fantastic endorsed statewide Judicial Candidates, as well as a great write-in campaign being waged for County Council in District 4, all of whom must be on the ballot come November. If we show up to cover polls for these great candidates, it also means we are showing up and covering the polls for all of our fantastic local candidates for offices such commissioner, school board, council, etc.

Meet the Candidates
Paul Lalley
Candidate for Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court

Paul Lalley is a member of the Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. In recommending his candidacy for the Commonwealth Court, the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Judicial Evaluation Commission noted that Paul's writing skills are held in regard, particularly his ability to clearly explain complex legal issues. Paul has a wide range of experience in law that has prepared him for the undertaking of Judge of the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court. Paul Lalley is seeking nomination on the Republican Ticket for Commonwealth Court in 2017.

Paul is a native of Montgomery County, but currently resides in Upper St. Clair with his wife, Jessica, and their two daughters, Felicity and Reagan. Growing up Paul knew he wanted to make a difference, which is why Paul decided to pursue a career in law. After graduating from La Salle College High School in 1989, Paul attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in History in 1993. Paul went on to obtain his law degree from the Dickinson School of Law in 1996.

Paul Lalley began his law journey clerking for PA Supreme Court Justice Sandra Newman, and then continued on as an attorney for the Levin Legal Group from 2002 to 2009. He now currently focuses his practice on labor and employment issues for municipal and public school clients as an attorney with Campbell Durrant Beatty Palombo & Miller, P.C. in Pittsburgh.

Paul has handled all aspects of school law practice. He has argued cases before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Paul has also presented cases before the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, and the National Labor Relations Board.

Paul Lalley has fought over the past two decades to improve the lives of Pennsylvanians through a career in law. It is no secret that education holds a special place in Paul's heart. As a father of two young daughters, he understands how a child's education can shape their future. Paul's proudest achievement to date was when the Allegheny County taxpayers were granted a one-year delay in the implementation of new property tax assessments after Paul persuaded the trial court that taxpayers needed time to challenge their assessments. Make sure to vote for Paul Lalley in the Primary on May 16th, and then in the General Election on November 7th.

Republican Committee of Allegheny County Internship
Location: Green Tree, PA
Position: Part Time / Unpaid. Compensation is available for travel.  
The Republican Committee of Allegheny County is currently looking for motivated, politically interested individuals for internships. Initially, the position will require 15-20 hours a week. Certain weeks will require more time than others, depending on the political schedule. This is a great opportunity to build valuable campaign experience and establish long lasting relationships in the world of Pennsylvania politics. 

 Duties will include:

Grassroots Tip
 
Fund-raising
The most dreaded job for a candidate for grassroots committee is to raise money for the campaign.  However, fund-raising is an important ingredient for the success of a grassroots Republican committee or a candidate's campaign strategy.  Fund-raising activities can take many forms from selling pizzas to holding a flea market.  But the most effective fund-raising activity combines the promotion of Republican candidates and principles with raising money.  For example, a candidate breakfast, picnic, reception, or dinner which provides supporters with the opportunity to meet the candidates and obtain campaign information also can be a great fund-raising opportunity.  Too many times, we forget to promote Republican principles and candidates as an integral part of raising money. 
 
Candidates should start their fund-raising effort with family and friends who know them best.  Explain why you are running and ask for their support--financial and campaign help. 
 
Then determine what other fund-raising activities you should start, e.g selling T-shirts, cups, or other items with the names of candidates or Republican principles printed on them.
 
An overlooked, but very effective means of fund-raising is to send out a fund-raising solicitation through the mail.  This letter should include an inspirational message describing why the candidate is running or what the local committee's goals are for the near future and the upcoming races.  You can also include a questionaire asking for opinions on important issues.  This letter should be sent to registered Republicans in your district who vote regularly.  Use the RCAC bulk mail account to save mailing costs.  Although there are some upfront costs and work for a fund-raising letter, the income from this solicitation can be surprising.  The solicitation letter can also help you to recruit new volunteers and candidates and to understand the concerns of the voters.

Due to a surplus of stakes being left over from the 2016 elections we currently have a large quantity of these stakes available at the RCAC headquarters. 

We have stakes that will fit both the standard 18 X 24 corrugated plastic signs or the standard 18 X 24 plastic sleeve signs. These will be given out on a first come first serve basis.
