The nonprofit India House Houston honored Ian Grillot - the brave man who was shot while trying to stop an active shooter in Olathe, Kansas - at its annual gala with a $100,000 check to help him build a house. Grillot was injured after Adam Purinton shot Indian engineers Srinivas Kuchibhotla and Alok Reddy Madasani and Grillot stepped in to confront him.

Indian Government Invites 'Hero' Ian Grillot to Visit the Country 
 
Ian Grillot's actions have made him a hero in India and the US after he confronted a man who had shot two Indians.  Houston Consul General Anupam Ray formally invited Grillot to India, saying, "bravery and kindness speak louder and are more representative of America than violence."

New York Consulate Highlights International Women's Day          

The New York Consulate General of India hosted a panel discussion on March 8, International Women's Day, on the role of women in today's society. With Consul General Riva Ganguly Das as host, the panel focused on challenges that 21st century women face in the banking, insurance, media, nonprofit and health care industries. The panel also advocated for women to serve as mentors for younger women, teaching them about success and empowerment.
