Online used car retailer Carvana, which is headquartered in Phoenix but does not have one of its signature automated car vending machines in the Phoenix market, could be bringing one to Tempe. The company has asked the Tempe City Council to approve a glass, nine-story vending machine and allow automotive retailing at the northwest corner of Scottsdale Road and Gilbert Drive, the Phoenix Business Journal reports.

When it comes to site selection, Phoenix has star power. Its attractiveness, along with organic economic growth marketwide, will help keep demand for office and other commercial space healthy in the foreseeable future. "Phoenix continues to be a strong market for business relocation and job creation," DMB Associates executive vice president and general counsel Mary Alexander said. "This fuels positive growth in the office market and in residential real estate. Rental rates are up and tenants are actively pursuing new deals for both office and retail."

With new ownership and a new name, the large commercial builders RJM Construction Phoenix announced it will be doing business as Venn Companies moving forward.

“No’ is a hard thing to say to people who need help,” Joe Keeper said.
As director of real estate development at Native American Connections, Keeper advocates for affordable housing in Phoenix, and he said he is constantly turning people away who don’t fit the requirements but need assistance affording rent in Phoenix.
Development in Phoenix is rising, and it is causing even more obstacles for affordable housing advocates like Keeper.
