EXERCISE WITH OXYGEN THERAPY
Improve the body's immune system, nervous system function and enhance energy production through Exercise With Oxygen Therapy (EWOT).
There are many conditions that will improve after a brief course of exercising with high concentrations of oxygen. Specifically, cardiovascular disease, macular degeneration, migraine headaches, aging, cancer, memory loss and general health and exercise performance. The only precaution or relative contraindication of exercising with oxygen therapy is emphysema or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
The protocol that we follow is essentially targeted to improve one's aerobic capacity and increase oxygen concentration and pressures to that of a youthful level. This is achieved through exercising with low oxygen concentrations and then shifting to 100% oxygen concentration to saturate the tissues. We cycle an individual through four periods of low oxygen, alternating with four periods of high oxygen concentration over a 15- minute period.
The benefits that most individuals experience are increased energy, improved cognitive function, improved sleep, decreased angina, decreased arrhythmias and an overall sense of well-being.
There are essentially no side effects and there should be no post workout muscle soreness. This is because there is adequate oxygen at all times, which will inhibit lactic acid accumulation. However, some people do experience some symptoms of detoxification as the lungs are an important organ to assist the body's elimination of inhaled toxins.
The benefits of EWOT were scientifically proven by studies performed by Dr. Manfred VonArdenne in the 1980's. This body of evidence has not been widely adopted, as it is not something that can be bottled and sold in your local pharmacy. Call the office to schedule an initial session and experience improved health through a simple adaptation to standard exercise.
