Happy Holidays!

This holiday season, I'm reminded of how so many families' holiday traditions begin and end in the home. Our new Habitat homeowners are in their homes for their first Christmas, and we are so excited for the new memories they will make there. Every family deserves a safe and affordable place where they can gather with their family and friends during the holidays.
Bobbi and her two daughters will carry on old Christmas traditions in their new home. "We have a dinner Christmas Eve and attend candlelight service at our church," says Bobbi. "My family will stay overnight so we all wake up in the morning together and share a nice breakfast after we open presents."
Amanda and her two children, who shared a rental with roommates before  moving into their H abitat home, are looking forward to celebrating the holidays in a home that is all their own. "I feel so blessed by this whole experience," says Amanda.

For Stefan and Amy's family, the holidays are all about giving thanks. "The volunteers amazed me by how much they put in," explains Stefan. "Time, sweat, and hard work for families they just met."
Our staff and volunteers will take some much-deserved time off over the holidays to spend with their own friends and family. Our ReStores will close early this Saturday, December 23rd at 3:00 p.m. We will resume regular hours on January 1st at 9:00 a.m.

Thank you for all of your support over the past year. With the construction of eight homes in 2018, this will be an amazing year at Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North. We are excited at the prospect of building in two communities at the same time for the first time in our history.

On behalf of myself, the Board of Directors, our countless amazing volunteers and dedicated staff, best wishes and blessings during this holiday season.

Build Updates
Thank You
Campbell River Build

Two of the 11 homes we plan to construct on the one-acre lot at 477 Hilchey are completed and have welcomed new homeowners for Christmas.

Thank you to all of the volunteers, donors, and sponsors who made this possible! List of our top-contributing supporters on the right (click to enlarge).

We expect construction to commence on four more homes across the back of the property in early spring.
On Monday, December 18th, The City of Courtenay officially gave us the green light to proceed with development of the .83-acre lot at 1755 Lake Trail Road. If you drive by, you will notice that the lot has been cleared and two sea-cans, donated by Traine Construction and Big Steel Box, have been moved to the site.  A volunteer services room is being constructed between the two metal storage bins.

The next few weeks will see future site development, including the installation of utilities, as we prepare for pouring foundations in March. Our plan is to construct five duplexes for 10 local families.

If you are interested in volunteering on one of our upcoming builds, register on our website to receive updates. You can also contact Terri Perrin, Volunteer Services Manager, at [email protected] or  (250) 334-3777 ext 224.

The Youth Media Project empowers youth through hands-on video skills training. This year, participant Darryl Oke created a short film about how a cup of coffee can help build
a Habitat for Humanity home. Thanks, Darryl!
