  MMAC Pres. Newsletter Message,
December 2017

Greetings to one and all.

We returned to indoor flying at the Milford Youth Center on December 8, and I am pleased to report that the turn-out was good.  I managed to get our insurance issues cleared up at the last second.  I guess this is what they call the learning curve.

Remember, you don't have to have any indoor flyers to participate.  I can always scrounge up something for you to try.

We had our informal end-of-the-year meal/party on Saturday, December 9.  The turn-out was light, probably to the snow that showed up and keep some of you off the road.  The Eagle Brook Saloon was a great place for this party, and I hope we can make this a yearly tradition.

Our next scheduled event will be our annual Frozen Finger Fun Fly at Bill Martin Field in Medfield.  We will have a fire going, and there will be food cooked on our grill.  I will also bring my oatmeal butterscotch cookies again, so no excuses for not showing up!  Unless Mother Nature gives us another raw deal.  Please contact me and let me know how many will be attending, so we can buy the proper number of hot dogs, hamburgers, buns etc. and we won't have too much leftover stuff.

Our next regular meeting will be January 30, 2018 at the American Legion Hall on Curve Street in Millis.  This is Membership Renewal Night, where you can get a discount for renewing at or before this meeting.  Hopefully, you have already renewed your AMA by now.

Remember to dress warmly!

Keep safe and keep having fun.

Respectfully, John Holcomb, President MMAC.

Secretary Report MMAC meeting of November 2017

Old Business

Elections - Both Mickey and myself will be stepping down at the end of the year. Ken Bancewicz has thoughtfully volunteered to take on the secretarial position but we still need a president. Anyone can run, although Mickey has left some big shoes to fill. After much consideration I decided to nominate myself to be vice-president on an interim basis. If anyone else decides to step up I won't fight you for the position.

Don Schipani has turned over Facebook control to Jaime McDonough. You can coordinate posting to our Facebook page through Jamie. Jamie seems to be doing great stuff with the web site   as well.

Winter indoor flying. As they say on "Game of Thrones", "Winter is Coming". Hopefully without an army of the undead, but only the usual New England snow, sleet, cold etc. Scotty was authorized to get our previous time slot reserved.  First Winter fly (December) was a success. Financially we broke even (give or take) and everyone had a blast. Looking forward to the next one.

A small group of diehards met for lunch at the Eaglebrook Saloon in Norfolk on Dec. 9 th. Good food, good companionship, just wish more MMACers had joined us.

Election of a new slate of officers at the November meeting ( With or without Russian meddling).

New Business

Dues ($50), membership limits (150??) set  for coming year. New slate of officers empaneled.

I wanted to share some data that I've gleaned from the enrollment rolls over the mast few years. Not a pretty picture, but I suppose it could be worse.

Frozen Finger Fun Fly coming up real soon. As I write this the forecast doesn't look that promising, hope for change.

This is my last secretaries report (for at least 2 years) I wish Ken all the best, its been fun.
