The May Member Spotlight is Val and Matt Sposi. Val has been a member of the Southington Community YMCA for 30 years and Matt has been a member since he was 6 months old. Matt has grown up in the Y by being involved in Enrichment classes, programs and YMCA Camp Sloper. “Matt learned how to swim at the Y,” Val says. One thing Val enjoys now about the Y is the independence that she and Matt have when coming here. “There is something for everyone at the Y,” says Val. “I can take fitness classes and Matt can work out on the bikes”. Val is involved in numerous Y programs. She attends 360 classes, is on the Running Crew, runs in the Apple Harvest Road Race and attended the Membership Summit. Matt and Val also volunteer for Y events including Race4Chase and the Apple Harvest Road Race and are members of the 200+ club. “As you meet new people through the Y, you try new things. I never thought I could do 360 but a friend said to try it. Now I love it!” says Val, “the Y is here for all your needs and wants, it’s welcoming… it’s like a family here. The Y helps you learn, grow and succeed no matter if you are looking for an introduction to fitness or more.” Matt and Val, you are involved and dedicated Y member and we are very lucky to have you as a part of our Y and Y family.
Good luck to the Girls Gymnastics Team as they compete at Regionals in Maine the weekend of May 12th.
